Her Fury Was Palpable

"Hold on. Going outside." I told Helen on the Satellite phone as I walked out of the Community Center.

I stepped down the porch and far enough away from the building enough that only Morgan could hear, if she is paying attention, which she probably is. "Hi beautiful" I said. "Away from the crowd. What's up?"

"Well. I heard some things. Thought I would talk to you." Helen did not sound angry.

"I see. Not sure WHICH things you heard, so working backward, Jessica flat out demolished Alexander's house. I watched her erase the bed, the bathroom, the bedroom, and then the house, in the matter of a little more than thirty minutes. The place is kindling and barely that when the one Vampire wrecking crew was done. Jessica cursed and screamed and pounded a house down, and it was... I am searching for the word. Impressive? Close enough. After that, Jessica was so happy. We gave her a family bath that was quite special. Sorry you missed that. I promise a repeat when we get home. She knows you forgave her, but some Helen and Jessica time would be good. The good part is I think it is what she needed. She seems very much her old self. I am sure there will be bad moments yet, but it seemed to help."

"Bloody excellent news, that is. I think that it shall be some Jessica, Adrian, and I time, however, because I am not only missing her. Do not make me regret saying that." Helen told me.

"I wish you could be here, and help guide me on some of this, oh my bedrock. I am feeling my way through the situation, and I know you two painted the town blood red numerous times. Jessica went so dark. I have never seen her like that."

"Adrian, after you were raped? You went pretty damn dark too, and it took Rachel to help you back to us. We had no idea what the bloody fuck to do. We cried ourselves to sleep numerous times. I think you have the right of it. You and Morgan loved her back, but she needed this too. Make no mistake about this, Alexander may have left but he is not dead, and he will be back. He is older than I am, which means he has been down and out before. This is what Jessica needs for now, and as much as I wish I could be there for her, because of the way this one happened, it had to be you and Morgan. You were there. You saw it. You had it burned into your minds. That is why I really called. I am glad she is OK, but I am more worried about you. How the fuck are you?"

I paused. "I am better. Watching her completely demolish that bed helped me erase what I saw, in that bed, Helen. I hurt. I am so damn selfish. It felt good to see her hate so much she wanted to make that thing into splinters, but I feel like I am the damaged one here. Not because of what I saw, but because I know it is not fair. It is not right. Morgan and Jessica are straight women, molding themselves into this situation."

"You think I don't know that?" Helen asked, a bit terse.

"I think I told you that because you of all people know that. You have to deal with this all the time. What comes naturally to you is an effort for them, and I have not gotten there at all." I told her.

That caused a silence. "I love that Jessica can be with me now. I know that it is still not her inclination. I blame me for what happened here. That woman is so special to me, and we have amazing times now, but at the end of the day, she desires a man. It is the way she is wired, and you are the same except you want a woman. In our case, a few women. You are Hetero, and you always will be, no matter what you learn to be able to do."

"That is the problem, now isn't it? I am the only man. You don't seem to mind my gender so much anymore..."

Helen interrupted. "Darling, you understate that by a great deal. Although I would say it is not your gender but YOU. I love making love with you."

"OK. Look. You dig chicks, and you dig dudes, but you like chicks better. You have come around in my case, perhaps because I have made it a mission to be the best damn man you have ever loved..."
