"He is not yet vetted across all species. Just Vampire to Vampire so far." Helen said. "We'll know soon enough if he can father a child with an Astral and also with a female Siren. Our home will become Ninovan in a microcosm if you will."

Angel gave that a beatific look, but Vera looked at Helen in alarm. "We will?"

"Oh, hush, silly girl. You know you want to. You tried for years." Helen waved Vera to be quiet. "Jessica thinks that Adrian can in fact be every bit the cross-species enabler, based on an experiment she did. Details unimportant...

Unless you were there, I thought.

"... The thinking with these new learnings is that there should be a much larger number of these fertile male Vampires in existence, but Vampire woman have been stomping them out. In our larger, outside Ninovan world, it took the emergence of a fertile male that did NOT go into post-conversion sexual lust for a few years to discover this. Our recent discovery, up in Tulsa, of a small nest of male Vampires indicates that males settle down, given time. The amount of time is variable. The larger world gave a male two years. In the Asia Pacific Geo, a male Vampire must be docile after a month."

"Like Sirens that need to grow up, so do male Vampires. Sirens take up to seventy years. Male Vampires can take, so far based on what we learned from Tulsa, as much as five. Adrian came out of the box completely equipped with a few wives to keep him happily occupied, so he never had a chance to become that crazy version of a male. If he ever was going to be in the first place, Jessica fucked that right out of him. I helped."

"I am still in therapy." I snarked.

"You have exactly the family you need to apply to your swelling." Morgan noted.

"So, in summary, Male Vampires are created, and if left alone, once they plowed through a field of humans, they settle down of their own accord? Had that been allowed to happen by the female Vamps, there would be a larger number of fertile males, and these males would be cross-species fertile?" Melody asked.

"While I am loath to point this out, in that scenario, male Vampires running free and unchecked, that would have been a disaster." I said.

"Your gender has been unfairly terminated and you are defending it?" Melody was slightly amazed.

"No. I am saying that Vampire daycare should have been a thing. The male Vampire in Ninovan was allowed to do as he pleased, and he turned out to be a real jerk. You have to set behavior limits and expectations upfront. You HAVE to. Further: let's say that the average time to calm down is three years. Just picking out a number to make a point. That is under threat of termination. No idea if they were unchecked if they ever would. However: if its three years, then that three years of chomping humans nearly nightly? 1000 human women get bitten? And we would have more fertile males to boot? Even at the low reproductive rate of Vampires, that would be a population explosion. To say nothing about perhaps not Juicing them to forget correctly. Untrained Vampire problem in general there. Male Vampires have to be identified, contained, and taught not to bite humans. If a human wants to be chomped, that should be an informed choice."

I did not mention Angel making that choice recently.

"I understand. I even agree." Melanie said.

"Please do NOT interpret that as me saying that women are responsible for men's behavior. In my worldview, once you have a corpus of males past the urge stage, they should help bring the next wave along. It is a community education effort, and should not be about women only. Example: Sirens. The Assembly is older men and women. Guiding the young males. They set up the Halls to channel and control the young males." I added.

"I cannot say that attitude, coming from you, is at all shocking.: Melody said.

"Note that there are other fertile crosses." Jessica said. "Astral with anything. Siren with anything. Humans with anything. Fertile male Vampires have the special biochemistry required to make female Vampires fertile. Correctly applied, a female Vampire can get pregnant from any other species. A non-fertile Male Vamp is a genetic dead end. They can have no children, and they cannot enable females to have them. None of the males in Tulsa, for example, appear to be fertile."

"Except that a fertile male Vampire can help an infertile one. It is not that the swimmers don't swim. It is that the ovum is not taking guests." I said.

"You might do that. You are not worried about rivals. I think it unlikely that the Ninovan sperm donor would be as willing." Jessica said.

"So, Doctor, figure out the process, and make it so he does not have to be there." I told her.

"Oh: Trust me on this. I will. He will NEVER have to be there." Jessica said with venom.

From bad comes good. Alexander pissed off the wrong woman. Come to think of it, any of these three would have that same response. Even if two of them had to go to medical school first.

"I would like to tell you this story has a happy ending" Morgan leaned forward and tapped the folder. "However, we have a problem. This is new for everyone here except for Angel, who helped me research this."
