Simi smiled at my intercession.

"Sorry. My wives are being ... I don't know. Something. Jessica stupid as all hell and Morgan is angry. No one word to describe it." I apologized.

"Is it weird to be married to more than one woman? For that matter, a married Vampire at all?" Simi asked

"Weird as snake shoes. For sure. I love it, don't get me wrong, but I was a human not all that long ago, so I am still adapting to the Vampire Poly ways. What you all do here in Ninovan seems to exemplify that Vampire tradition/ Ideal? Whatever the right word there is. You all do it without necessarily everyone having the long life part of it too. Vampires are Poly because of how long we live."

"Ninovan was founded on the need to have a sustainable community starting from few people. Sharing was a requirement and since no one could hide much from anyone else, they learned how to deal with the petty things up front and move on to the important things." Simi explained.

"I love the Interspecies ideal of Ninovan, even if that goes off the rails sometimes. That is a reference to Angel's family and how she came to be left alone on her dead father's body. Also fucking Alexander. I was there. He is a jerk. You are settling. I guess Kevin stays fully booked. Tobey, too. Even in the Poly world, people will be people. Still jerks and jealousy."

"Alexander is another conversation. Angel's parents? That was sad. Fighting over the woman and not the child. Murder. The one thing our world cannot abide: Young male sirens... Other than that, you agree with mixing Sirens, Vampires, Astrals, and humans?" Simi sounded happy with that part.

"Very much. I like that you pay attention to who is descended from who. With the Siren and Astral life length, which I assume came from Vampire influences somewhere back there, you really have to know that kind of thing. I also like that you are always taking in unknown people and accepting them. I could have done with a little less acceptance of Jessica, but as you say, that is another conversation. In general, the acceptance is beautiful."

"And you? What I asked Jessica about? Would you be willing to contribute some of your uniqueness to us? You are a fertile male. Rare and valuable. Alexander's father, Alexander, and now you? Three of you in the known world these days, after all the male deaths? You are the most unique of all, as you have gifts above and beyond your Vampire fertility. That implies, as we know here, that you have a special version of scent and blood. Above and beyond that is that you are a Vampire hypersensitive! In the Ninovan ideal, your genes need to be shared. Spread far and wide!"

"Well, Simi, that is not what you asked Jessica about, is it?. You asked if she would mind if I made love with you. An obvious possibility of that could be a baby. I am the same type of Vampire as Alexander in that I can get you pregnant. My own three Vampire children as proof. Well: They are not Vampires. Yet."

"Sex aside for the moment, as you are right. After Jessica's description, I cannot help but be curious. I am fully aware of Alexander's shortcomings. I had children with him because we need his abilities out there in case a male child ever comes to pass. This raised that point: Speaking in general and not as a potential future lover: You would not mind you and I having a child? You said you like what we do here. You would not care that I am a black woman and you are a .. Uh.. What are you? You look moderately dark-skinned but you have those blue eyes. That beard says you are not Native American. Too thick. Wrong color." Simi derailed.

"I am dark from the sun. I tan well. I spend a fair amount of time at a nude beach, so I get a lot of sun. Ethnically speaking I am a hound dog. My family has every ethnic group represented somewhere. I have several Amerind groups, and that may even be the largest percentage.  I am starting to think it is possibly even why I was more susceptible to turning. Morgan's mother is full Apache and turned. Morgan turned first bite. My family tree is a bush, and I have African-American ancestors as well. Some Thomas Jefferson via Sally Hemmings. A grandmother on the Amistad. I am, in one person, sort of like what is happening here. A mix. I am stronger, smarter, and healthier for it. I am married to a Hispanic/Irish woman, an Amerind/Norwegian, and a British royal. My girlfriend, when she is not bopping my Ex, is Astral, which is a massive mix of things as you know. Not that we knew that part about Angel until recently." I watched Simi's face as I answered. She still is bothered by something. That did not answer her question.
