I shut my eyes, expecting the worst to happen any moment.
"Hey. You wanna fight someone? Let it be me." I heard a voice say. I looked up and saw a taller girl, who I guessed was a junior or a senior.
"Why don't you stay out of this?" Clarissa snapped at her.
"Make me." She shot back.
"Look, I'm not really in the mood to be fighting little freshmen so why don't you get out of here while you still can?"
One of Clarissa's friends were about to charge at her, but one of the other girl's friends got in front of the girl and fought Clarissa's friend.
I cringed as they soon all started fighting with Clarissa and her friends, practically beating them up. Soon, they all retreated and ran away. When they did that, the girl walked up to me.
"Hey, are you okay?" The girl asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, thank you."
"Yeah, thanks girl." Michelle said.
The girl smiled. "We girls gotta stick together, right?" She chuckled lightly.
"Aren't you guys going to get in trouble though-"
"Don't worry about that, we'll be fine with being suspended. Anyway, I couldn't just let them hurt you again."
"Again?" I repeated.
"How do you know about the time they came after her?" Hazel asked.
"Isaac told me." She responded.
"Isaac.."
Oh crap.
Don't tell me this girl was part of his gang too.
"Yeah, we're dating." she said.
"O-oh?" I answered, stunned by that news. I didn't know Isaac was dating anyone.
She waited for a couple of seconds before bursting out laughing.
"Nah nah, I'm just messing with you." She smiled.
"Just wanted to see your reaction, since I've been hearing people make rumors about you two. Anyway, he's like a brother, I can't imagine dating him."
I looked at Hazel and Michelle, who raised their arms in defense.
"Nice to meet you Audrey, I'm Lizzy." The girl said. I didn't really expect her to know my name but I just nodded and smiled.
"Oh hi, it's really nice to meet you too." I greeted back.
"If she, or anyone else ever bothers you or any of your friends don't hesitate to tell us okay? We need to protect Isaac's new girlfriend." she joked.
I looked away from Lizzy when I heard loud chatter.
"Did you really think you were going to get away with fucking with my friends' friend?" One of the boys said as he walked up to Leo and his gang.
I looked away when they started throwing punches at each other. Before things could get any uglier, the teachers ran up to them.
"Weren't you suspended?" One of the teachers said to Isaac.
"I don't give a shit if I was suspended." The teacher shook his head.
"I'm very disappointed in you, Mr. Robinson." He said as some of the kids held Isaac and Leo back before they could murder each other.
"Yeah well you know what? You can stick that disappointment up your ass, how about that?!" Isaac snapped back, before he was taken away from the school.
"I swear Leo, if I ever see you or any of your dumbass friends ever messing with Audrey again, you're going to regret it big time!" He shouted like a crazy person as they took him away.
I said bye to my friends and Lizzy before leaving and following the students and teachers who were practically dragging Isaac out of the school.
They let go of him once he was calmer. I grabbed his arm before he walked away. "Isaac, wait. You can't go home like that."
"Like what?" He just mumbled in response.
"You're coming home with me." He snorted a little.
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm serious. You're coming home with me. You can't go home like that-"
"Like what? Why do you have to treat me like a child?" He sighed annoyed.
"I'm just trying to look out for you!" I responded, which I think caught him off guard.
"Why..?" He said, after a few seconds of silence.
"Isaac.. I appreciate you looking out for me.. But this wasn't the way to go, you're hurt now."
"This, this is nothing compared to other fights I've had in the past. I'll be fine.." he mumbled. Despite that, I still took him away from the crowd.
"Hey, dude.. Where are you going?" Jonas said.
"Beats me." He responded, before stopping me from dragging him away.
"Look, Isaac.. I promise to let you leave once I help you with your injuries."
".... Promise?"
I hesitated for a few seconds for a few seconds before nodding.
"I promise." I said.
I just hoped I'd actually be able to keep such a promise.... Knowing all the shit that happened at his house.. I had no idea how I'd ever be able to keep such a promise.
