"Uh just one minute." Chase chuckled awkwardly at the barista, who returned the gesture.

"I swear I had a fucking 5 dollar bill here somewhere." Chase mumbled, digging through all the pockets in his pants. Sadly, I didn't have any change myself so I just sighed.

Now what.. now what.
I thought silently.

After a whole minute of Chase looking through his pockets, Karla spoke up.

"Well.. I have some other orders to take, you two enjoy your food and coffee, I'll be back."  She smiled politely before walking away from our table. Chase let out a loud sigh of relief when she was gone, it was soon faded and replaced with panic.

"I told you I was just fine with a cappuccino." I mumbled, taking a sip of my drink since why the hell not? We were screwed either way.

I looked back at Chase, who was looking around the table, playing with his straw. "Look, just chill and eat. We can always dine and dash or something."

Chase let out a loud snort.
"Dine and dash? After I'm finally out of prison? No way."

"Well what are we supposed to do?! We're almost 5 dollars short!" I reminded, almost spilling some of my drink as I swung my hand across the table. Chase looked at Karla's direction. She was taking orders from some of the other customers.

"Flirt with Karla," He said out of nowhere.

"What?" I coughed as I choked on my coffee, the heat burning my throat.

"You heard me. Flirt. with. Her." he repeated himself, tilting his head towards her direction. She was writing down people's orders, we looked away once she looked back.

We immediately ended our conversation as soon as she was finished with those customers, she walked back to our table.

"So, do you guys have the rest of the money?" Karla asked.

"No.. I'm sorry." Chase sighed. "I looked through my pockets, my wallet, everything I swear."

"Well I apologize but I need you to pay the whole thing."

"Listen, I just spent a lot of my money on buying furniture and groceries.. I just came out of-" I shook Chase's arm before he could finish his sentence. It wasn't worth it telling random people about it. He thought for a few seconds before finally finishing his sentence.

"A new country.."

"Yep I just moved from country so I've spent my money on things for my new house so please, try to understand." Chase babbled on, trying to come up with the best excuse possible.

Karla just shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but I really need this job so I'm going to ask you to-"

"Wait, you need this job?" I slid into the conversation. Karla nodded, still looking at Chase so I went on.

"You really work here? Cause you seem way too cute to be just some barista at a cafe." I tried to sound as fliryy as I could as I make eye contact with her, not looking away for a single moment. I wasn't expecting any of this to help us, but it did seem to flatter her since she blushed.

"Thank you, this is actually a part time job.. I'm still in school." Karla shifted the weight onto her other foot, shyly. Made sense since she didn't look much older than me, she was probably around 15.

"You know, I'd really like to see you again sometime, you know, other than in this cafe." I flashed a smirk at her.

"Oh well.. we can always exchange numbers if you want-" She seemed to be flustered all of a sudden since as soon as someone called her, she turned and ended up knocking over a coffee and spilled it all over me.

I heard a wheeze come out of Chase but he quieted himself down. "Well em... I gotta go the restroom, I'll be back." He got up before rushing into the men's restroom.

I took a long deep breathe through my nostrils in order to keep my cool. Ironically, the drink that was spilled on me happened to be cold so guess I was literally keeping my cool. Good thing they ordered cold coffee.. Since the whole thing was practically spilled on over my pants and the table.

"Oh my- I'm so sorry!" She rushed as she grabbed some napkins. "Here let me clean that up."

She grabbed a whole bunch of them before she started cleaning up the mess, all well as the mess on my newly bought jeans.

"It's alright, it's alright happens to the best of us." I grabbed some of the napkins and cleaned myself up, our hands reaching for the same spot.

She seemed surprised, but what seemed to surprise her more way when I continued to hold onto her hands. It seemed like suddenly everyone else was nonexistent, all I was really  focusing on was on one thing; getting us out of this mess.

Being completely honest I didn't think this would work but here we are, wasn't going to complain though since out of everything I've ever had to do, this wasn't the worst thing ever.

I thought the whole staring at each other would be the end of it, but surprisingly it wasn't since before I could even say it our lips were touching, or at least were almost going to until a loud voice interrupted.
