"How do you do it?" She asked.
"How do I do what?"
"How do you... Stand up to people and even teachers.. like it's no big deal?"
"Because it's not." I responded. "You should really start doing it too. Because if you don't, people are just gonna take avantage of that and-" Flashbacks of past events flashed right before my eyes.
"Isaac? Isaac?" I hardly heard her voice.
"Are you okay?" She asked, I snapped out of it.
"Yeah.. Yeah." I mumbled as I got up from the bed. "I have to go.."
"But-" she started to say, but I already walked out of there.
It's a surprise that I somehow found my way out, since her house was probably twice the size of mine.. or even more. I walked back to my house, half an hour later or so getting to my neighborhood.
I moved my head to the rhythm of the song I was blasting through my earphones, pulling them out of my ears when I felt someone tap me on the shoulder.
"Hey, you're finally back! We've been searching for you!" Carlos said, walking up with some of the other dudes.
"Yeah, where have you been? Lemme guess, with that Audrey chick, right?" One of them asked.
"Obviously." Jonas scoffed, rolling his eyes with a grin.
"Leo's so fucking pissed, dude. One of his homeboys just sent us a threat. Can you believe it?"
"Whatever though, we gotcha."
"We just kicked their asses back at school, wouldn't mind doing it again." Jonas smirked, glaring when some random person bumped into him.
"Hey, watch where you're fucking going!" He snapped.
The guy quickly got up. "Sorry, I was distracted." he muttered.
"Hold up, you're that new kid at school aren't you?" Carlos asked the kid.
"Greg or something?" Jonas guessed as he tried remembering his name. The guy shook his head.
"It's actually-"
"Gabriel, I'm pretty sure." I added, tying my shoelace. I recognized the dude from school.
The kid nodded."I've been in circles all day trying to find my neighborhood. I was wondering if one of you could help me find my h-"
"Nah we can't we're a little busy." Jonas interrupted.
"We got better things to do then to help some guy around the hood.."
"Alright. I'll help you." I interrupted Jonas before he could go off.
"Really? Thank you." The guy said. Jonas gave me a look of disbelief.
"Thought we were all gonna go to the park." He mumbled.
"I'll see you guys later on." I said to them, before walking away with Gabriel.
"I heard that dude's gay.." I heard one of them whisper.
"Ugh.. What the fuck." Jordan asked disgusted. "That's nasty.."
"Honestly if that dumbass tries something on me, I'm beating his ass."
Gabriel sighed softly, so I knew he was overhearing their conversations.
Unlike a majority of my friends, I honestly didn't give a fuck about people's sexualities. It wasn't hurting me in anyway, so whatever.
I admit though.. I used to think like that in the past few years. Especially after the shittiest days of my life that I'll never forget. But I'm trying to grow out of it.
