Imagine being harrassed at your job😎

"I'll have one wrench, please."

Fighting back a sigh,  you shake your head at Barold.

"We don't sell wrenches here." You wave a hand towards the displays around you. "This is a bakery."

Indignantly, Barold scoffs. "Then you should have wrenches. Why wouldn't you have wrenches here?"

Already tired of him, you ask, "Why do you even need a wrench?"

To your surprise, Barold falls silent, a guilty look on his face.

Maybe you didn't want to know...

"Go to a hardware store, Barold." You say instead. "I don't have time for this."

At your suggestion, Barold shakes his head violently.

"I can't go into the hardware store anymore." He explains in a hushed tone, which is pointless considering that you're the only ones there. "They installed cameras."

Before you can kick him out, a low voice calls out. "Is there a problem here?"

You both jump and turn to see your boss walking in, an intimidating look on his face as his eyes settle on Barold. You hastily double check that the bread you had slipped into your pants earlier is out of sight as Raymond approaches the counter.

Unfazed by your boss, Barold nods. "Yeah, Y/N here won't sell to me. Told me to go somewhere else before they kick my ass."

You don't recall that part of your conversation, but since your boss doesn't seem to care, you let it go.

"He wants a wrench." You say, expecting this to be the end of the discussion. Instead, Raymond turns his intimidating stare on you.

Quietly, he hisses, "Then sell him a wrench."

You blink.

"Raymond," You start slowly. "we don't sell wrenches here."

Your boss raises an eyebrow.
"Yes, we do."

What was he talking about?? You haven't sold wrenches since The Incident.

Heatedly, you ask,"Where the fuck am I going to get a wrench fr--?"

"That's it." Raymond interrupts, his voice as flat as it was before. "You're fired."

His words are like a punch to the gut. Visions of Tom Nook evicting you fill you mind as you begin to panic.

"What?! Why??"

"It's alright, Raymond." Barold cuts in, clearly feeling uncomfortable. "I don't really want a wrench anymore. Uh, how about a slice of pie or something instead?"

"No. Y/N has been testing my patience since the moment I hired them." Raymond says before turning towards you and pointing at the door.  "Get out. I'm done."

Barold tries again. "Y/N seems to be a great worker. I didn't mean to-"

Livid, you cut him off. "Shut up, Barold. It's fine. I'd rather be broke than work 48 hour shifts with only 3 bells an hour as my pay."

When no one reacts, you rip your apron off and throw it onto the floor angrily.

Feeling cheated, you meet Raymond's eye. "I quit."

Barold seems lost in thought as you attempt to stare your ex boss down.

"48 × 3 is...hold up.

48
× 3
------
1224 bells!" Barold exclaims. "Wow, that's more than I thought!"

You look away from Raymond to gawk at Barold.

"What?" You ask, confused. "He only pays me 144 bells."

"And that's more than you deserve." Raymond sniffs. "Horrific work qual--"

Barold grows still as you slam a wrench over the cat's head. The bonk it creates echoes in the silent bakery as you watch your former boss collapse onto the tiled floor.

You both watch him twitch a little before he grows still.

"Y-You....You had a wrench?" Barold whispers as soon as he regains his voice.

You slip the wrench back into your pocket, ignoring his question entirely.

"Help me hide the body." You tell him, already kneeling down to lift Raymond's legs.

Before Barold can process your request, you become aware of the open front door.

Hadn't it been closed?

Before you can shut it again, someone cries, "He's dead?"

You both look over to see Bob standing by a display of muffins, an unreadable expression on his face as he stares at Raymond's limp body.

As you begin to slip your wrench out again, he laughs.

"That's pretty neat! I guess that means you're legally required to have a sale, right? In his honor?"

Your eyes narrow as Bob begins to help himself to the baked goods displayed around the shop, his excitement more than a little suspicious.

Before you can question his behavior, the back door swings open.

Your former coworker Eloise enters the room.

She takes one look at the scene around her before heading back outside silently.

You would have to deal with her later...

"Y/N?"

You look over at Barold, who is staring intently at Raymond.

At your questioning look, he whispers, "He's still alive."

Instantly, four lawyers materialize out of thin air, each seizing one of your limbs.

"What?!" You cry out. "Let me go!"

"Your court date is set for November 87th, 2045." A lawyer recites robotically before dragging you over to an empty glass case situated in the center of the store. You had never questioned it before....a lethal mistake.

You struggle against their strong grips as they gracelessly throw you inside the glass case, sealing it once you've been dumped inside. As they drill holes through the thick glass above you, one of them states, "You shall await your court date in isolation."

"Isolation?" A muffled voice calls. "But I can see Y/N perfectly!"

The glass opens once again, dumping both Bob and Barold inside.

"All eye witnesses are required to remain intact before the date." A lawyer states before dumping a few sticks and leaves inside the case.

As the lawyers turn to approach Raymond, Bob prods a stick.

"Woah! I've always wondered what it's like to be a snail," Bob says cheerfully, oblivious to the fates you had all been subjected to.

"This wouldn't have happened if you had given me the wrench in the first place." Barold mumbles bitterly as he brushes a leaf off of his leg.

As your eyes land on Barold, a scream of horror rips through your throat.

You would be stuck with him for over 8,900 days...

The wrench you had slipped inside your pocket previously begins to feel heavy.

You place a hand over it, the cool metal clearing your mind.

No.

There was another way out.
