Imagine being a good person😂
The Flower Fest was on in town, and you could not garden for the life of you.
You glare at your plants as they die after you accidentally trample them for the fifth time.
Why were they so hecking weak??
You resist the urge to spit on them before storming into your house and slamming the door after you, fully convinced that the competition was rigged. Everyone else in town had at least one flower withering in their lawns, but yours refused to even grow!
Before you can go into your kitchen to raid your own fridge out of frustration, a hesitant knock reaches your ears. You turn your attention towards your door before glancing at the clock; wasn't it too early for Tom Nook to be harassing you for rent?
Just in case he had decided to change up his schedule, you grab your shovel and slowly approach the door. You would knock him out before he could enter your home again.
As you swing the shovel over your shoulder, however, a gentle voice calls to you. That wasn't Nook...
"Y/N?" Coco calls, and you relax. Even if Coco were here for a fight, you could take her on a lot easier than you could Nook. Leaving your shovel on the floor, you approach the door and swing it open to reveal your neighbor standing there, a watering can clutched to her chest.
When she sees you, she smiles.
"Good evening, Y/N!" She cheers, and you yawn. It was too early for happiness, especially during this time period.
"What do you want?"
Coco blinks at your rudeness, but she recovers quickly enough.
"I was just wondering how your garden was coming along," she says before pointing at her own. You glance over and are shocked. How were you ever going to compete with a garden as vibrant as that?
Coco seems to know how her garden looks when compared to your own; her smile is almost mocking as she returns her gaze to yours. "I was wondering if you wanted some help with your own. I saw you working on it earlier, and...well, I think you could benefit from it!"
You fight the urge to grab your shovel.
"It's alright," you say with a thin smile, your hand reaching for your doorknob. "I don't need any help, thanks."
"But--"
You slam the door shut.
You wait until Coco returns to her own home dejectedly before picking your shovel back up. You examine it intently before an idea strikes you. Maybe you wouldn't be able to grow an award-winning garden by tonight's judging, but you certainly could make your garden the best in the town by then.
How you ask?
By making it the only garden around.
You sit by your window and spend the afternoon watching Coco's every move. Finally, at around 7, Coco exits her house with a net in hand. As she disappears down the cobble path, you slip through your open window and land heavily on top of one of your only plants. It is destroyed instantly.
Whatever.
As quietly as possible, you sneak over into Coco's garden and get to work as quickly as possible. Destroying the flowers by running them over proves to be too time consuming, so you begin to shove them into your pockets instead; maybe Nook could give you something substantial for them.
As Coco's garden begins to disappear rapidly, you hear someone sigh from behind you. You turn briefly and find Tom Nook shaking his head at you as he watches you from your own front yard.
"What, bitch?" You demand, and he only shrugs.
"I guess I can't expect much from you at this point in the story. Have a good afternoon, Y/N." He calls before shuffling away. He pauses besides one of your only flowers before stomping on it.
It explodes.
Once he's left, you continue with your mission, fuming. Who did Tom Nook think he was, acting like the epitome of morality?
You rub dirt from your nose as you begin to dig crude holes all over the place, making the garden appears even more abysmal than it already did because of your thorough flower-destruction session.
You're uprooting a few black tulips just as someone gasps behind you.
Ignoring it, you continue to make a mess. It was probably Nook again.
Then again...when did Tom Nook ever gasp? And why would he have returned anyway?
As these thoughts hit you, you freeze. It couldn't be...
"Y-Y/N??"
oh, but it was.
You wince as you turn to meet Coco's pale face, her net hanging limply from her hands. She shakes as she moves closer to inspect her once-beautiful yard, now reduced to a filthy disaster. Flower stems stuck out from underneath piles of dirt, and several dirtied petals littered the ground around you. Feeling light headed, you hastily rise to your feet. How would you explain this away??
Maybe you could knock her out...
"Coco!" You exclaim, suddenly nervous. You've never been caught red-handed like this before, and you weren't sure what to do. "Weren't...weren't you out bug collecting for the night?"
"You waited until I left to do this??" She cries furiously, and you fight back a snicker. The small bunny looks as threatening as a newborn as she storms up to you and shoves you. You hardly move.
Her lack of strength helps you calm down as you realize you were likely to get away with this. What was she going to do, kick your ass? She was half your size!
"Yeah, now get lost. I'm not done yet." You say, pushing her off of you as you begin to slam your shovel down against the remaining flowers.
You feel Coco attempt to push you again, but like last time, it does little to stop you.
Voice shaking, Coco screams, "My mother sent me those!! Stop!"
"No."
You were thoroughly amused by this point, so it stuns you when a heavy blow lands on your back. With a gasp, you fall over into the dirt.
You turn in confusion to see that Coco is glaring at you with a fury you've never seen before, a broken net gripped tightly in her hands. Had she broken it over your back?!
You eye the sharp end of the broken net warily as Coco looms over you threateningly.
"I'm going to kick your ass, doyoing!"
.....
A heavy knock resounds through your home, awakening you from your slumber.
With a wince, you rise to your feet and shuffle towards your front door, your body aching with every step.
You open the door to reveal Mayor Tortimer, who is unfazed by your appearance.
"Hey, Y/N!" He greets you before pointing at his own face. "Did the bees get ya again? I've warned you about shaking trees all willy-nilly, haven't I?"
You remain silent.
The mayor laughs at his own joke awkwardly before clearing his throat. "Anyways, I came here to give you your Flower Trophy! Your garden is truly beautiful, Y/N!"
You feel numb as you accept the heavy award before slamming the door in his face.
Pained, you slump against its surface and stare down at the trophy's gleaming surface, the moonlight from your open window reflecting off of it dully.
You had won...but at what cost?
