Imagine looking at the picture above🔮
You were not the type to spend bells on things you didn't need, so when you spotted Katrina's tent in front of the town hall that evening, you did not understand your urge to go inside.
You tell Katrina this as you sit down in front of her, and she smiles.
"Fate, Y/N," she says knowingly as she points at the crystal ball in between you. You nod along, but you have no idea what she's talking about. "Fate brought you here. So, what do you feel like asking about today?"
The tent is stuffy, and you shift uncomfortably on top of the flat pillow you took a seat in.
The crystal ball seems to be watching you, but it has no eyes. Were you losing it already?
As the silence in the tent thickens, you clear your throat. "Um, what can I ask it?"
Katrina peers into the foggy glass intently before nodding solemnly.
"The ball says you can ask it anything." She answers quietly, before smiling brightly again. "Including this, so that will be 50 bells."
You feel like you're being punched in the gut. 50 bells?? Were were you going to get 50 bells from???
"What??" You cry indignantly. "That isn't fair in the slightest!"
Katrina is insistent.
"The ball demands payment for its assistance."
But so are you.
"Well I ain't paying shit." You hiss as you stand up from the table, fully prepared to leave and never return. As soon as you turn your back to her, however, Katrina gasps.
You ignore her, but when she gasps again, you turn to face her.
She is peering into the ball, her expression frightening.
"How interesting." She whispers, and her tone sends a shiver down your spine. "The ball, it has cleared. It is showing me something."
When she doesn't continue, you bite the bait.
"...What is it showing you?"
Your question hangs in the air for what feels like centuries, Katrina's serious expression never changing once as her eyes bore into yours.
Finally, so quietly you almost miss it, she whispers...
"Your death."
...

.........
..........
You burst into laughter.
"Fuck you, your scare tatics won't work on me!" You yell at her before turning on your heel and walking towards the tent's flaps.
From behind you, Katrina cries out urgently, "This is serious, Y/N! The ball is never wrong."
You roll your eyes before pausing again. You had already wasted enough time here, you might as well humor her.
"...what is it showing you? Am I going to get murdered in 7 days?" You ask her, your sarcasm impossible to hold back as you watch Katrina tap her crystal ball repeatedly.
She shakes her head.
"Death. By the hands of an attractive woman."
You think of all the women in town, and then think of her.
"Then I should be fine, right?" You ask her, now grinning. You were enjoying this immensely. "I'll be safe if I stay here."
When all Katrina does is stare, you begin to grow uncomfortable.
Was she...being serious?
She doesn't need to know the effect she's having on you, so you glare at her one final time.
"I'm leaving." You announce bitterly as you back away from her. "And don't expect me to ever come back here again, you fraud!"
the moment you turn towards the exit, however, you hear Katrina rise from her seat.
Before you can turn to look at her, a heavy blow lands on your head, and the pain turns your vision splotchy. You fall to the carpeted flooring, and the crystal ball rolls in front of you.
She had used it against you!
"The ball..." you whimper, its foggy surface reflecting your own face back to you. You look miserable, and before you know it, your reflection melts away to reveal a scene instead.
You watch as Katrina smacks you over the head with the ball. You watch as you fall.
The prediction! Was this it then?
Your demise?
"yes, Y/N?" Katrina hisses from above you, her fury palpable. "What of it?"
The ball fogs up again, and you smile.
"It...It was wrong."
You perish, but before you do, you hear Katrina gasp.
The ball may have accurately predicted this scene, but it got one crucial piece of information wrong.
You had not fallen at the hands of an attractive woman.
From beyond the grave, you cackle.
She would never smile again.
