Imagine moving in with your husband💕
You couldn't say that no one had warned you.
Prior to your wedding, everyone had warned you against marrying him, but you had ignored them.
Tucker had always been gentle with you. He had always made you feel loved. Surely marrying him would be perfect? Surely it would be wonderful!
Well, surely enough, you had been wrong.
You sit on a painful rock, watching as Tucker attempts to start a fire for the fifth time that night. It was raining outside, and as something scurries past your foot again, you realize that you're not the only two who had decided to hide from the storm in this cave.
You shake off a rat as Tucker fails to start the fire again.
"Hurry up!" You yell as you swat away the 582920th mosquito of the night. "I'm freezing!"
"Sorry, darling." Tucker replies happily, and his laugh grates against your nerves. "I can't figure this out."
"Why can't we just move back into town?" You ask, and this isn't the first time you've asked him this. When he had failed to hunt any animals down for dinner yesterday, you had asked him the same. As you remember this, your stomach growls.
You can't remember the last time you had eaten.
Like then, however, his answer remains the same.
"Why would you want to be in town?" He asks, and you feel like screaming. "It's fun living like our ancestors used to, isn't it?"
"Only when you know how to live like them!!" You shout, and as another bug lands on your cold skin, something inside of you snaps. "Otherwise, you're stuck sitting in a dirty cave with an incompetent animal that is supposed to be extinct!!" As soon as you say it, you freeze. Tucker falls silent, and you slap a hand over your mouth.
You had gone too far.
The rock he had been using to light the fire falls from his grip, and the sound it makes as it shatters against the ground is deafening.
When he doesn't move, you lower your hand.
"Tucker...I...I'm sorry." You whisper, suddenly regretful. You shouldn't have let your anger boil over like that...especially if it would hurt the man you loved. "I'm just...I didn't mean it. It's just been a rough week."
Tucker shakes his head. As he begins to pick up the shards around him, he mumbles, "I had a rough week, too, but I haven't said I want you dead yet, have I?"
You roll your eyes. Was he always this dramatic? The more he talks, the less you feel towards him.
"You know I didnt mean it like that."
Tucker turns to face you, his nostrils flared. In the dim lighting of the cave, you can't see his face, but you can certainly feel the fury radiating off of him.
"Then how did you mean it??" He demands, his voice shaking. "You know how I feel about the science behind my existence, Y/N!! And you used it against me!"
To your horror, you realize that he's crying.
You feel like a monster.
"Tucker...Tucker, no." You whisper. You stand up and attempt to look for him in the dark, but you never find him. You stand in the dark dejectedly. "I'm sorry; I didn't mean it. Here, I'll help you start the fire."
You walk towards the center of the cave where you were sure the fire had been set up, only for Tucker's harsh voice to stop you in your tracks.
"I don't want your help, you faulty screwdriver." He snaps, and his insult cuts through you.
You gasp.
Your pain quickly morphs into anger, and you feel your hands begin to shake.
"Fine!" You yell as you turn to face the cave's opening. Leaving would be so easy..."I hope the hunters that wiped out your family come find you in this stupid cave and finish the job."
As you take a step towards the exit, Tucker sniffs.
"Don't leave." He begs quietly, and the hurt in his voice causes you to pause. "Please, I'm sorry. I dont want to fight."
You close your eyes and listen to the rain outside.
You remember your wedding, you remember the love you have for him, and it gives you the strength to return to your seat.
"...I'm sorry, too." You mumble, and as your stomach growls again, you ask,"Is there anything to eat?"
To your relief, Tucker nods as he comes to sit beside you.
"Oh yeah." He says as he rummages through his pockets. "I scavenged this yesterday. It should still be good."
It was a piece of bark.
You stare at it for what feels like ages.
Finally, you state dryly, "I want a divorce."
Tucker jumps as if your announcement had shocked him.
"W-What??" He sputters, watching your face desperately for a sign that indicated you were joking. When he doesnt find one, he begins to shake his head. " But Y/N, I lo-"
"I WANT A DIVORCE!" You scream, and your voice resounds in the empty cave. You listen to yourself announce your wish numerous times before the cave falls eerily silent. "I miss living life like a normal fucking person! We smell horrible, there's nothing to eat, and theres nothing to wipe with! As of tonight, I'm done! Have fun living in your own filfth, you mammuthus primigenius."
You rise to your feet furiously. Today would be the day you put an end to this horrific lifestyle!
You storm out of the cave, only to get doused in icy water.
Of course, just your luck.
The storm had worsened over the course of your argument, and now you had no choice but to wait until it died down to return to civilization.
Without a word, you walk back into the cave and sit as far away from your ex-husband as you possibly can.
It was going to be the longest night of your life.
