Imagine helping your good friend Punchy with his hobby🦵👁🦵

"Y/N!"

You turn away from Blathers to see Punchy running towards you excitedly, a bright smile on his face.

You return it warily, a little confused by the sudden appearance of the cat.

"Good afternoon, Punchy!" Blathers greets as Punchy comes to a halt besides you, his breath heavy. While Punchy recovers from his overexertion, Blathers continues pleasantly,  "I was just telling Y/N about your fossil collection!"

"Really?" Punchy rasps out. After another minute of struggling, he tilts his head at you. "What did you think?"

"It's...okay." You manage after exchanging a brief glance with Blathers. If you were being honest, you had zoned out the moment Blathers had opened his beak; you had no clue what fossil collection they had supposedly been discussing. 

Punchy seems oblivious to your confusion as he nods in appreciation. 

"That's actually why I came to find you," he says as he finally catches his breath."I was wondering if you'd be able to help me grow my collection!"

At this, Blathers scoffs.

"So you're finally planning on finding your own fossils as opposed to stealing them from the museum?" Blathers asks, his voice strained. 

Punchy shrugs.

"Hey, you're the one who left the door open."

You watch as Blathers fluffs up, clearly aggravated.

"The door is always open." He says hotly, waving in the general direction of the museum's entrance. "That doesn't excuse your behavior!"

"Y/N does the same thing!" Punchy shoots back, and suddenly, you're thrown into the spotlight. "Why are you only getting mad at me?!"

As Blathers turns to shoot an accusing glare at you, you grab Punchy's arm and tug him towards the door.

"When do we go find your fossils?" You ask with a forced laugh. When Blathers continues to glare at you, you avert your gaze and fasten your pace. "Right now would be great."

"But, I wanted to ask Blathers about a new fossil I found firs-" Punchy begins, but stops abruptly as you glare at him. "Yeah. Okay, right now is good."

The pair of you rush out of the museum without a look back and only slow down once you're heading back towards Punchy's house.

When you let him go, Punchy rushes ahead of you eagerly. 

Once you arrive at his house, he turns around and grins.

"Y/N, you're pretty smart. I was wondering if you could help me with this." He tells you as you catch up. "I found this cool skull, but I don't know what animal it belongs to."

He opens his front door, and you follow him in. Your eyes instantly land on the fossil in question, for it sits in a case in the very middle of the room.

You feel your knees weaken as Punchy picks it up gently and shows it to you.

"It looks kinda small to be a dinosaur's." He speculates as your breathing quickens. "What do you think? My guess is on a giant sea slug!"

The fossil is dangerously familiar, and when you figure out why, your breath gets stuck in your throat. 

Finally finding your voice again, you rasp out, "W-Where did you find this?!"
