Eyes fluttering and a white fog appears in front of your eyes. The light was so bright. Your body wasn't moving. When you tried to get up you realized that you were tied up. You screamed. Both your hands were tied up and your legs were as well. You started hearing the sound of the heart monitor next to you. Beep. Beep. Beep. Every sound was taunting you like a snake hissing and waiting for its right time to bite your ankles and poison you to your death.
The door opened in a burst that made your core jump."She's awake!" You heard a male nurse screaming to someone waiting outside.
You pulled your head off of the pillow to try and take a look at who was coming in. A snotty doctor came in with papers in his hands.
"Untie her arms." He ordered the nurse and he submitted instantly in silence. When he did you saw your wrists slit up from your failing trials for getting out of it. "Quick attending to her bleeding wrists, please." He followed.
"Where am I?" You said looking around.
"Can I ask you several questions before we proceed?" He ignored you.
"I'm the one who needs answers, now!" You yelled.
"Miss Reid, your answers will provide us with enough information to answer your questions later." He said as he turned a page and started writing down. "Are you aware what day today is?"
"Friday 13th of December." You said in confidence.
"What's your last memory before you came here?"
You frowned trying to squeeze your brain to make it seep with information. "I was in my childhood home with my boyfriend, we were in my room." You said trailing as close as you can. He then stood up to do some physical tests on you. You were too dazed to react.
"Can you please tell me what's going on?" You said defeatedly.
"Miss Reid. Today in Friday December the 27th." He electrocuted with the information.
"What?" You shook your head. "Is this some kind of a joke?"
"No, miss, you're in South Chelsea Community Mental Health Center." He replied. "Miss Kim came in with you two weeks ago."
"Where's doctor Dana? She's my doctor." You said trying to get out of the buckles tying your feet.
"She's not going to be able to attend us. Her Medical Practice has been retracted due to malpractice." He hit you with one more piece of information. That's hundred percent your mother's doing.
"What the fuck is happening?" You reached for his collar but failed so your body fell on the ground with your feet still tied which put you in indescribable pain and you shrieked.
"Miss, being angry won't aid us in helping you get better. Please stay calm." He said still watching you on the floor. He called for the nurse to come pick you up. He untied the buckles on your legs.
"Miss Reid. You've been out for two weeks. Your brain seems to have experienced great trauma it had to dissociate. The only notes we have are of you screaming apologies to your mother so she could let you play with Gaven. That's the only words you uttered for the past two weeks. Can you tell us about Gaven?"
"He's my younger brother." You whispered.
"You are aware that he's deceased right?"
"Yes. He passed away 3 years ago." You answered. The doctor kept nodding and wrote down notes.
"Your older brother will be taking you out today for your therapy to continue in his residence." He signed the notes and went out.
Your brother's driver came to take you back to his home. When you got into the house he was standing with his arms wide open. He squeezed you into his hug.
"You're okay?" He said rubbing your scalp.
"I don't know what's going on." You said as he broke the hug. "Where's Jungkookie?" You looked around like you'd find him.
"Catherine, please, settle in and we'll talk." He said trying to take you luggage from your grip. You didn't let go. You pulled him towards you instead.
"He left, didn't he?" Your tears started falling.
You couldn't blame him. You couldn't. Who would want a girlfriend who dissociates every couple of weeks. You took in a deep breath and tried your best to stop your tears. Your chest heaped and fell as you tried.
"Well, I'm glad he did. He didn't deserve all this." You said letting go of the luggage and walked in to the kitchen. You grabbed an energy drink and walked back to sit on the couch. Your brother was watching you as you did. He was silent.
"Don't look at me with looks of pity, Paul." You said between the sips as you stared at the fireplace. You didn't move your gaze.
"I came to the realization that blaming them for leaving is unfair. Jungkook stayed for longer than anticipated but I bet something happened back at home that made him run away. I don't remember anything but I know Na Ri well enough to know what she probably did. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Right?"
"It's not." You heard his broken English. You turned around to find him standing. He looked tired. Like he hasn't slept or eaten for the past couple of weeks. He switched back to Korean.
"I can't tell you I didn't run away. I ran away. I went back to Korea for 10 days. Having a gun pointed towards you and listening to all this pain made me fear for my life. I won't tell you it didn't. I was overwhelmed. But, I can't just leave when I only heard one side of it. I had to come back and ask Paul Hyung about everything. I'm sorry I had to leave without thinking about you." He said looking at the ground.
You stood up and started taking step by step towards him. Maybe if you walk slow enough he will disappear and this would be just a fragment of your sick imagination.
"I'm real, Kaesolin. I'm here." He walked towards you and held on to your hand.
"I can't blame you for being a victim. Because who I saw wasn't a victim any more. You were the conqueror." He said as he kissed your forehead.
"It's too much to handle. I'll take my time to soak everything in. I just couldn't leave you behind as you faced it all by yourself. Can you have your ring back?" He said getting your promise ring out of his pocket. He put it on your finger and smiled faintly.
"Jungkook, don't you have work?" You asked in concern. "This time of the year is busy for you."
"Don't worry. I didn't miss any performance. I'm on a break, now."
"Are you insane?" You looked at the ground.
"Pretty much." He smiled. "But I'm not a promise breaker." He lifted your chin up. Your eyes locked and you still saw the galaxies you always saw.
"What now?" You asked.
"I don't know. You decide." He kissed you.
