°The 25th of January, Year 2024.
"Can everyone hear me?"
"Clearly."
"Yes..."
"Kat here."
"Okay, good." Alexa trudges in all black, slinking in the darkness of the narrow alley behind the house. "It's almost time." She mumbles, before asking, "How is it on your end, Katya?"
"Donna is out like a light. I locked myself in a room with her." The girl responds, bouncing on the edge of the bed where her target is lying, drugged.
"Nice. Ryan, what's happening?"
His line is quiet for a while, before his voice flows smoothly into everyone's left ear, through their earpiece. "They're bringing things from a pickup truck to the inside, and there are a lot more arrivals than thought" He says.
"How much more?"
"Around fifteen."
'That's...'
Alexa taps Phillip's arm as he is slouching behind her and they begin to move as quietly and carefully as possible to make sure they don't end up breaking into the wrong house because of how dark it is. Climbing over the wall separating the yard from the narrow passage, they test the nearest window they come across, shining their little flashlight inside when it slides right open. The inside is feminine and anyone can guess it's Donna's room.
'What carelessness...'
They slip inside and slide it back to the way it was, moving over to the bedroom door in a crouch.
"Yo, Sparrow! Hurry up with the fucking bathroom, man. I gotta go and they're about to start!" A deep yell travels up the stairs, just as the toilet of a bathroom close by, flushes.
Phillip shakes with silent laughter and Alexa nudges him to stop.
Ryan buzzes in, "Four more are coming in."
She winces, regretting getting the info herself now that it's been proven somewhat inaccurate. "Noted."
A different ghetto drawl, way deeper than the first, calls out to a man that seems to be just arriving, "Chris, where's my daughter? I told you to get her!"
"Your daughter? What? I..."
"What the fuck, man? It's almost time. Go get her and don't come back without her! Dumb bitch."
"One is leaving." Ryan sighs.
Alexa notes that as well, then tells him, "Focus, dude. You sound like you're bored. Don't mess up." Then she says to Katya, who has been quiet on the line, "One of the guys will be at your location in a bit, Kat. He's coming for Donna, so keep an eye out. You know they all have brands on their right arm. One bullet should be enough."
"Aye, aye captain."
She turns to Phillip, "I think I've figured out where David is." He nods in agreement as she checks the time again. "It's already past eleven, are you ready?"
"I am..."
"Shit, Lexy, I'm sorry."
"What? What hap—?!"
"I'm on the getaway, but don't let that stop you. Do what you have to!" Ryan's voice comes in on high frequency the same time the front door downstairs is thrown open.
"Boss, we got a rat!"
"How are we supposed to do what we planned when it's become like this?!"
The line is dead.
"Ryan—!"
"Alexa, calm down. You're getting too loud and we need a change of plan, quick." Phillip cuts off her tirade. "Quick, quick, make one now."
She looks him in the face as if to mark it permanently in her mind. "No plan, just open fire."
