Everything became a blur, just as I approached the artificial sun with a phantom ruby prototype in my hand, I thought I fixed everything and saved the world from destruction.

Oh how wrong I was...

---

Gadget's POV:

As I outstretched my hand towards the sun, I expected it to disappear as soon as the prototype reacted to it, that didn't happen.

"AHHH!" I yelled as the ruby dissolved over my hand, the sheer heat of the sun melted the ruby, clearly unaffected by it. My hand ached as my glove burned and fur was singed off, my raw flesh showed, the ruby had dripped from my hand and onto the hot ground below.

"Rookie!!" Sonic shouted and sped up to where I was on top of the tower. I groaned in absolute pain and tried to shake off as much hot liquid as possible. Sonic gasped as he seen the destruction done on my hand, "Oh gosh! We need to get you a medic!" he panicked and swiftly grabbed me bridal style and sprinted down the tower at the speed of light, leaving me a bit dizzy in the process.

"Ah, ha!" Eggman spotted us. "You see? Those prototypes are useless against this sun!" he cackled.

"Can it, Egghead!" Sonic snapped and rushed me to the sidelines where a few medics stood by for accidents like this. "Stay here, it's gonna be okay" Sonic gave his signature smile and ran off towards the battlefield again.

I groaned as I was placed down onto a bed and my hand was checked over, I was given numbing over my hand as they removed the burned glove to work on healing me.

Looking around, I got a good view of the battlefield. It wasn't all too cheery though, that sun was getting bigger, brighter and hotter by the minute and was going to kill us all even if we managed to succeed, from my observations only Infinite could get rid of that sun. However, I could hear the voices, so it was easy to pick up on the confrontation.

"Surrender, Sonic!" Eggman declared. "And I'll spare your miserable gang" he glared down at the large group of Resistance members. "Or else this sun will burn you all to ashes!"

Sonic gulped softly, he glanced to his friends, who were all sweating under the heat. Knuckles looked to the blue blur and nodded in defeat, they couldn't risk everyone perishing because they were too stubborn to surrender, the best thing to do now was to surrender and regroup for another day.

"What's it gonna be, Sonic?" Eggman pushed for an answer, a smirk growing on his face.

With a heavy heart, Sonic held up his hands in surrender. "You win, just let us go." Sonic sighed.

Eggman stroked his long mustache, "Fine, Infinite, get rid of the sun" he commanded. The hovering jackal nodded and used his ruby to get rid of the sun, it was a relief for everyone as the cold breeze returned to cool everyone down.

"Now then, I have an empire to build!" Eggman laughed. "Oh, and get rid of them, Infinite" he took off in his Egg Mobile.

"Yes, doctor" Infinite cackled and cracked his knuckles. "You will not come here again, I will be watching you" he warned, "Oh, and before you go. If you dare to defy me, I'll make sure you experience the most unbearable pain" he growled and used his ruby to teleport the Resistance members to barren locations around the world.

I gulped, they are all gone. Everyone is gone, and I'm here. Infinite seemed to have only dispersed the main members of the Resistance, leaving all other mobians to flee. The nurse who was treating my hand had put it in bandages and cast up to my wrist, she told me I couldn't move my fingers until the hand was healed which could take weeks, just my luck.

As the nurse left to flee she left me to my own devices. I grunted, "Gee, now where am I supposed to go?..." I mumbled and hopped off the bed, looking around.

"I hope you don't plan on staying here." A familiar voice interrupted my thoughts, I gasped and spun around to be face to face with the jackal that caused so much destruction.

I decided to play it tough, being sick of the jackals taunts, "Leave me alone." I growled under my breath and turned around. This only made the jackal laugh, "You think you're so tough? You couldn't even stand up to the sun without melting your hand" if he didn't wear that mask I would be able to see the sly smirk on his face.

I scoffed, "Says the one who hides behind a mask" I retorted, only to regret the words and cover my mouth. I was thrown to the ground harshly and a large, clawed hand grabbed my throat.

"Say that again, sweetheart" Infinite scowled and tightened his grasp on my neck. "I'm...not y-your...sweetheart" I choked out and used my leg to kick him off me, he stumbled back, releasing his grip.

Using this time, I got up quickly and used my grappling hook to swing away and hide while my hand healed. I didn't know where I was going but I needed to flee and gather the Resistance.

For now, I only hoped to stay out of range of Infinite.

Infinite's POV:

That wolf. That fucking wolf. I swear to hell I'm going to make sure he pays for all he has done to me.

Getting up, I looked around before scouting the area. I came across some mobians, who fled as soon as they spotted me. I liked it this way, the way they fear me, the way I can control them with the flick of my wrist.

However some mobians weren't as scared of me as others. As I hovered by, I almost got hit by an arrow that whizzed by my head. I looked to where the arrow was shot and lowered to the ground, "Who dares to kill me?..." I spoke up. "Come out!" I then shouted and a male cat who had grey fur and the bow stood out of his hiding spot.

"How about I teach you a lesson?" I stated and pinned him to a large boulder, his back on the rock. The cat yelped and struggled against my grasp, I could tell he was regretting shooting at me now.

"We'll start with this" I took out one of his arrows from the quiver behind his back and pressed it against his stomach, the tip of the arrow pierced the soft flesh, causing the cat to yelp in pain - music to my ears.

"Then move to here" I trailed the tip of the arrow up his stomach to his chest where his heart was. "But that's not where you intended to hit me" I growled and moved the arrow to his head, "That's right, you tried to hit me here" I hummed sadistically and began to shove the arrow into his skull. "And you will never do that again" I used my ruby to pin his wrists and legs down as I continued to penetrate his skull and into his brain.

The cat couldn't even yell anymore as my hand clamped on his throat, this pest will not hurt me any longer.

As the arrow reached his brain he stopped fighting me, he became limp in my grasp. I released the arrow from my grip and let the cat slump to the ground, my job was done. I brushed myself off and continued on my scouting, thankfully no one seen the murder.

Now, to find that pesky wolf.
