POV: Infinite

After paying my respects, I left the gravesite and walked to the city.

Since I have no control over the ruby anymore, I will have to salvage weapons from the city.

The city itself was a dump, ruined and deserted. Buildings lay across the streets and dust still filled the air from the collapsed ruins.

As I ventured into the city, I looked for bodies and shops that I could steal from. There were still some bodies laying across the ground so I checked over them first.  I managed to find a small knife but that's just about it.

It will do.

I looked around to make sure I wasn't going to get ambushed before making my way to the shops, well, what's left of them.

In the shop there was barely anything left, and the food that was left was outdated by weeks and wasn't edible.

Well, looks like I'll still be hunting for food.

I left the shop and exited the city, thankfully there was no one around so I assumed they had all fled a while ago.

It only took a few minutes to reach the forest because it was so close to the city, but that meant others could be nearby so I had to stay alert. During the walk, I took time to appreciate the forest itself, how it managed to stay flourished during the war, it was quite amazing given the fact that everywhere else has been destroyed.

I got to the cave quite easily without interruption of other mobians trying to kill me.

The cave felt more silent and lonely as I stepped inside, I sat down against the wall and sighed.

So many memories...

His scent is still present in here.

I decided to make a fire to keep me occupied, but my thoughts couldn't linger away from Gadget.

I will avenge you, mark my words.

The fire was started and I sat back, my long tail curled over me for extra warmth.

It was still daylight outside, but I had nothing to do until I figure out a new plan. No mask, my identity will be revealed. No powers, I will become weaker - as much as I hate that word. I must grow my combat skills again without the ruby to rely on.

Now that I'm thinking about it, the doctor hasn't bothered to contact me ever since he started his empire.

Not that I care about him anyway.

I have far more important people to care about.

Even if they're not around anymore...

I frowned and rubbed my head, there was so much I needed to do and yet I couldn't muster the strength to actually do it.

"Alright, Zero. Focus on a plan" I mumbled to myself. "Something sly and sleek, without being detected by Shadow." I growled.

"I could try to pick off the group one by one..." I hummed. "-but they will eventually notice the dwindling numbers, not to mention their friends' deaths"

"Then we have Shadow, Sonic and Silver, those are the ones who pose a threat to me and the plan" I thought. "Though Sonic was easy to pick off last time I know he'll not be put down so easily"

Though the torture was enjoyable~

He hid it well from the group, maybe I could spill some details at my arrival in the base...

That will bring them down.

Weaken them.

At having a strong advantage idea, I left it at that to slowly build upon a large scale plan during the days to come.

My stomach grumbled, interrupting my train of thought. I stood up and looked around, "I guess I need to gather some food for the night" I huffed softly, leaving the cave briefly to hunt.

It wasn't long before I came across a rabbit, I crouched low before using my dagger and swiftly attacking it, putting it out of its misery before it even knew what was happening.

I came back with the dead rabbit and sat down, skinning it and cooking it to satisfy my stomach.

It was dusk before I even knew it, I sighed and let the fire roar in the cave, it was still going after a few hours of burning which meant the cave was actually pretty warm now.

Curling up, I rested and drifted off to sleep, well, trying to get some sleep. It was hard to rest after the events of today, but soon I was enveloped in the warm darkness.

POV: Third Person

At the gravesite, the moon shone high in the midnight sky and it's light lit up the graves in a soft white glow.

But a red glowing was also present, a familiar red glowing.

It shone brighter and brighter, before encasing a grave and sinking underneath the soil.
