Chapter Eight: Claim

POV: Infinite

Back in the cave, I sat down and watched as Gadget slumped to the cave wall opposite me.

Why am I waiting here? Sonic is alive and he'll be looking for Gadget. I need to protect the cave and area around here to prevent that blue devil from snatching him.

I thought heavily on what to do, I could extend the invisible barrier to beyond the cave a few miles away in every direction but that would leave me unable to do anything else for a day as it takes a lot of energy to power the ruby yet alone create a barrier strong enough to stall the Resistance from getting to Gadget.

Gadget doesn't look comfortable with hunting either...

I might have to go for bigger prey if I am to be immobile for a day, that means there's more meat that would last the day and possibly longer.

I decided to talk to the wolf about my plans to stop the Resistance.

"Gadget" I started and looked at him, taking off my mask so my voice is clearer.

He turned to me, ears perked and giving me his attention.

"I am going to extend the barrier to a few miles in each direction of this cave, this means that I will be immobile for a day as this would take a lot of my energy and power." I explained, the wolf tilted his head gently but I simply continued.

"I will hunt early tomorrow morning in order to prepare for my rest after the barrier has been extended. I just need you to cooperate with me for the meantime by stocking up on sticks for the fire and food" I finished and awaited his response.

"I can do that" Gadget nodded and shrugged.

I nodded back, "Good." I left the topic there and the cave fell into silence. It wasn't until we heard a bang in the forest that we both jumped and stood up.

What the utter fuck was that?

I put on my mask and walked outside, Gadget followed with me but I didn't shout because he was as curious as I was.

We came upon a clearing in the forest, what caused the explosion lay in front of us.

A giant meteor.

What?...

I inspected the still hot meteor and walked around it, it was just a big lump of rock. Nothing interesting was found, but it did startle us - mainly Gadget as he was still trembling from the explosion.

"It's just a rock" I sighed and looked at him, he glanced up at the sky though and pointed up towards it.

I followed his gaze and my jaw almost dropped.

There was a giant meteor shower happening over the dark starry sky, the rocks glistened and some were on fire as they approached the atmosphere. Thankfully, it seemed like the majority of it was a safe fly by.

Gadget stood in awe, he wasn't trembling anymore. The bright rocks had seemed to calm him down as they streaked the midnight sky.

Admittedly, it was quite amazing to watch.

I glanced at Gadget as the show ended, "Let's go back" I walked away from the rock embedded in the ground.

Gadget nodded and followed me back to the cave. We walked in silence and entered the cave, there was still some rabbit meat left over so we prepared the fire and I cooked the meat.

"Hey..Infinite?" Gadget spoke up after our long silence.

"What?" I looked at him and finished my meal.

"What's...your real name?" He asked.

Dammit...

"You ask for something really valuable, you do know that, right?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He lowered his ears but nodded, he seemed determined to know.

"Fine then, but I request something too, take it as an eye for an eye" I smirked mischievously.

I could see the fear in Gadget's amber eyes but he proceeded to nod, his determination still amazed me even at the consequences of his actions, that determination is really something.

"I give you my name, you give yourself to me. Permanently." I bargained slyly.

Gadget's eyes widened at the deal, some could say he was making a deal with the devil.

I could tell Gadget knew what "giving yourself to someone" means, a smirk never left my face as he contemplated.

Giving yourself to another mobian means you give them permission to claim you as their own with a bite mark on your neck or shoulder. From then on, you belong to that person for life and no one else can touch you. The bite can be painful, but it depends on how badly someone wants you to be theirs, some bites are deep and can draw blood while others just barely penetrate the skin. After the mobian has been claimed, they are only their partner's for physical and mental affection.

I've seen cases of a male mobian turning to violence because another male sexually touched his claimed partner. It never ends well.

Which is why I am bargaining with Gadget.

He's mine and no one else's.

"F-fine..." he mumbled but growled after. "One bite. Nothing more." he warned, his ears folded back.

"Very well, my name is Zero" I admitted truthfully and looked at the scarlet wolf. "And that's the truth" I placed a hand on my chest.

Gadget nodded thoughtfully, "Nice name" he complimented me and smiled gently. This made me chuckle, "I don't always get compliments, so thank you" I crawled to him and he pressed himself against the wall.

"Now for my part of the deal.." I breathed along his neck and looked for a suitable, most noticeable spot for my mark. He squirmed slightly under me but didn't protest and accepted it.

I gently pushed his head to the side using my muzzle so I could access his neck more and slowly latched my sharp teeth on a spot on his neck, he gasped softly and grabbed my shoulder as I sank my teeth further into him, penetrating the skin and lodging my teeth in there. Our bodies were close to eachother as I kept my teeth in his neck for a while more before taking my teeth out and licking the blood that came out of the mark, making him emit a quiet moan and take me off guard but a smirk replaced my surprise.

I can make him squirm underneath me any time now~

I finished licking the wound and pulled away from him, he released his grasp on my shoulder and winced as he felt the bite mark.

"Don't touch it, it will bleed again" I spoke up and moved away from him, sitting by the entrance of the cave and looking at the bright moon that shone onto me and into the cave.

I could sense Gadget coming closer to me, he sat down beside me and watched the moon too. "This changes everything..." he sighed.

"It does, whether it be for better or worse we shall find out soon" I replied but didn't tear my gaze away from the moon. "But for now, let's get some sleep" I walked back into the cave and sat down against the wall again, my tail draped over my legs. I watched Gadget come in too, he still kept his distance but sat closer than before.

He knows there's no turning back from a claim~

He's very submissive...
