POV: Gadget

I was the first to wake after our little nap, Zero had his arms wrapped around me, I smiled at that.

I missed him...

Even though I have no memory of anything else after my "death" before being revived, I could tell it's been a while since we were together.

However I can't stop thinking about the ruby now in my chest, and not his.

I'll need to learn how to control its power...

My small ears perked at the sound of soft groans, I glanced up and seen Zero awakening. I kissed his cheek and sat up on him, "Sleepy head" I chuckled.

Zero chuckled deeply and opened his eyes, I still got lost in those heterochromic orbs. He cupped my cheek and planted a soft kiss on my nose, "Bottom butt" he winked.

I laughed and got off him, "Come on, we need to wash" I flashed a bright smile.

We reached the stream fairly quickly and washed, but I couldn't stop glancing at the ruby - albeit it's smaller than Zero's original one but having a jewel permanently plastered to your chest would freak you out too.

"You look troubled, is it the ruby?" I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around me as Zero's voice echoed behind me.

I frowned, "Yeah- I'm very grateful you gave it to me, don't get me wrong!" I chuckled. "-but it's just an unfamiliar feeling in my chest, not to mention I'll have to learn to control it"

I heard Zero hum, "I can teach you" he kissed the back of my head and sat down.

But-

Zero-

I stood, my mouth agape, "But-"

"Nope, no buts, it's better to teach you now than later on" Zero cut me off and smiled. "After all, we do have a plan to get to"

I sighed but sat in front of him and crossed my legs, waiting for the lesson.

"Now, it's all hand coordination" Zero stated. "With a little bit of thinking"

He lifted his hand up slowly, his fingers spread, "To spawn a simple illusion cube, hold your hand out like this and think of the object, you've seen the cubes before"

I nodded and held my hand out, picturing the cube in my head and it soon floated in my hand.

"Good work" Zero smiled. "Now that you can spawn one in, try spawning a few"

I bit my tongue to focus and spawned in a few more of the cubes, they floated magically over and around my hand. The cubes shimmered in the light, looking hollow from the light red pigment.

"Perfect, that's the basics of handling the ruby" Zero explained. "If you wish to spawn in anything other than illusion cubes, just remember to picture the object in your head and it will come to you"

I hummed and stopped imagining the cubes, they faded from view and I looked at Zero. "Thank you" I kissed him softly. "I assume you thought of a different plan after I passed? What did you think of?" I asked as we walked back to the cave.

Zero thought, "I was planning of getting rid of them one by one, starting with the easiest" he sat down. "However there was a hole in my plan, someone missing" he smiled. "You"

Me...?

I wonder what he would have done if I didn't come back...

I sat beside him, "Aww, that's sweet" I chuckled. "I'm here now, and we can proceed with the plan" I nuzzled into the crook of his neck.

"Indeed, I believe - with a little magic practice - we can put the plan into action quite soon, and then we can be free" He stroked my cheek. "Free from the world, the pain and the suffering"

I frowned, "And...if we were to fail again?"

He sighed, "If we fail, but we still have eachother, we can flee the land" he looked at me, "There is nothing left for us in this broken land anymore, not with the Doctor taking over with his empire" he explained.

"I see..." I looked at the ground. "And what about the Doctor? I assume he hasn't bothered to contact you since the Resistance's defeat, if we get rid of the Resistance, we still have the doctor to confront if we wish to be truly free" I explained.

"The Doctor would be easy to get rid of, his robots are nothing but scrap metal" Zero scoffed. "And with the ruby by our side, he is nothing compared to us"

I nodded softly and rested against him, I had no further questions, but my stomach turned at the thought of this new plan going wrong.

No.

I'm not going to die again.

Zero needs me.

This time, I will fight.
