POV: Infinite
I glanced at Gadget while looking around the - now empty - base. There was all sorts of information on tablets and computers, information on the ruby, information on the war and even information on me!
Taking a tablet in my hand I scrolled through the open document on myself, it seemed that they studied me in order to try and "defeat" me.
How pathetic.
The tablet also showed information on the ruby, I didn't read through it all as I knew the ruby first hand, but it was curious that they recorded literally everything and anything that would give them an advantage.
What caught my eye the most was the computer screen embedded in the wall, it was huge! However, all that was displayed on it was foiled plans from the start of the war it seemed. I placed the tablet down on a desk and looked at Gadget, who was also analysing the tablets scattered about.
"Find anything?" I asked.
Gadget was silent for a second before shaking his head, "Nope, nothing" he sighed.
I frowned, "There's nothing here for us then, let's just find Sonic and end this"
He nodded, "And if Eggman is present then that's a two-for-one bargain" he chuckled.
Oh Gadget, you really have changed since I met you...
I smiled and nodded, "Indeed, I assume they would be at the Doctor's main base where I placed that artificial sun a while ago" I explained. "We head there and finish this"
"Then let's go" Gadget replied before pecking my lips softly and walking out of the base.
I followed him out of the base and we walked towards the large, revamped skyscraper that almost touched the heavens. The building was definitely redesigned and definitely taller than previously in the war, it looked to be peppered with all kinds of robot's - I assume to keep others out, but when we approached the base half the robots were already destroyed.
Gadget shot me a concerned look as we entered the massive base, admittedly I was also concerned because the Doctor is capable of surprise attacks and traps.
"Stay alert." I whispered to my red wolf while looking around for any traps.
Gadget nodded meekly and continuously glanced at his feet to make sure he didn't activate anything potentially deadly.
We approached a three-way divide in the hallway, three different hallways were presented to us.
Great. Just fan-fucking-tastic.
I sighed, "We're gonna have to split in order to cover the most ground" I glanced at the three dark passages. "I'll take the far left hallway"
Gadget frowned, "I guess I'll take the far right hallway" he looked around cautiously.
"Hey" I rubbed his hand softly, "It's okay, hopefully these hallways conjoin in the end and we'll meet up again" I smiled and kissed his forehead.
"Hopefully" Gadget sighed, "I guess I'll see you on the other side" he flashed a small smile and walked into the far right hallway.
I nodded and we parted ways - temporarily of course.
The far left hallway was super dark but thankfully I was used to dark spaces so it was somewhat easier to navigate through the hallway. That didn't stop the chills I got up my arms from walking into the unknown. Cobwebs dipped down from the walls and ceiling, it was unsettling, but manageable.
Continuing further into the darkness, I was met with vines dripping from the ceiling and rising from the floor. They looked slimy and definitely not good for me, so I tried to step around them. The floor itself was slimy and sticky, and was also green in colour, so I watched my footing as to not fall.
This is gross...
Walking over the vines I found a dead end. I sighed heavily and tried making my way back only for one of the vines to wrap around my ankle and trip me up. I gasped and fell to the floor, the green, slimy liquid on the floor got all over me and it absolutely stunk. I brought out my dagger and sat up, but the vines seemed to have their own minds and wrapped around my wrists and held my trapped ankle in the air so I was quite literally hanging on the ceiling while my wrists were pinned to the walls.
Dammit.
I tried to struggle but their grip only tightened, left dangling there until Gadget hopefully finds me.
POV: Gadget
The hallway I walked down wasn't pleasant but it was bearable, there was nothing in the hallway, not a single trap nor surprise came my way.
I wonder what Zero found...
The hallway came to a very short end, as a wall blocked my path. I sighed and turned around, my feet shuffled on the floor softly.
I hope he found something better than a dead end.
I approached the main hallway again and walked down the far left hallway to find Zero, as he wasn't here meeting me in the middle so I assumed he was still checking out the far left way.
What I found was quite amusing, I had to muffle a short laugh as I seen Zero hanging upside down covered in this green fluid and vines holding him up.
"Don't just stand there, help me!" Zero grunted and pleaded.
"Okay, okay!" I chuckled and used the ruby to quickly get disintegrate the vines. They dropped Zero as they vanished and Zero plopped to the floor, a squelching sound was heard as he tried to stand up covered in the smelly fluid.
"Oh chaos, you stink!" I held my nose and stepped back slightly, smirking.
"Yeah, I know." Zero sighed and put on an unamused face before chuckling and trying to wipe the fluid off his fur. "Dammit, this is gonna be a hassle to get off my fur" he huffed and crossed his arms.
Biting my tongue to not gag at the horrid stench, I walked to the huffing jackal and booped his nose, "Well, mister pouty face, did'ja find anything?" I smirked.
"No. Dead end." He grunted and walked out of the hallway, the green fluid dripped down his fur as he walked and left a trail of the liquid behind him.
I caught up with him, "Nothing on the far right either" I commented and sighed. "Guess we can do the middle together, eh?" I muffled a laugh as he narrowed his eyes at me.
He's just adorable when he's annoyed~
"The sooner we get out of here, the better." Zero responded as we walked into the last hallway.
