POV: Infinite

It was midnight, time to strike. I snuck out of my cave and silently tried to find the scarlet wolf, being successful after only 20 minutes, he didn't really go that far from me.

I overlooked him as he slept, the fire was almost out now. His fur was dirty and messed, looks like he hadn't washed in some time.

"Let's see how strong you are against this" I raised my hand to the sleeping wolf and my ruby glowed softly as the power was directed into the wolf's mind. The wolf shifted in his slumber, obviously reacting to the ruby, but did not wake - yet.

"And let's turn up the severity" I bent my fingers and the power increased, making the nightmares increase.

POV: Gadget (Dream perspective)

I looked around, things felt...strange, like a thin fog surrounded me. It felt heavy, as if I would be pulled down to the ground at any moment.

Walking around, I heard nothing but the sound of wind. Things became more clear as I approached a house, it stood tall and proud on a patch of land with a beautiful flower garden beside it. I walked inside, "Hello?"

"Get out!" A voice shouted.

"What? What do you mean?" I continued, only for my heart to break at the sight of my mom and dad holding weapons and walking towards me.

"Out! You do not belong here!" My mom shouted.

"But- I do belong here! You're my family, this is my home!" I exclaimed and backed away from the weapons.

"You are not my son!" My father shouted and backed me to the front door.

"You will never be a part of our family!" My mom shoved me out of the house.

"M-mom...please" I begged, but they wouldn't listen.

"I am NOT your mother! Now leave!" My mom shouted louder.

I tried to protest but I ran off in a fit of tears and heavy sobs, I can't believe my family rejected me.

"I need to wake up.." I pinched myself. "Please let this be a nightmare and not real..." I continued to try and wake myself up.

---

"Shit."

POV: Gadget

I heard someone curse as I woke up, but no one was around me. "Strange..." I huffed and hugged my legs to my chest.

"Now I can't sleep" I growled softly and just stayed upright, "Perfect" I rolled my eyes sarcastically.

For the rest of the night, I stayed awake, I could feel the bags under my eyes but I couldn't risk having another nightmare. Not again.

The sun rose after hours of darkness, casting the world in its bright and welcoming light. The sky turned pink and orange and created the most wonderful view of the sunrise.

I watched the sunrise peacefully, it reminded me of the hope this world still has left in it.

It made me happy.

My stomach was the one to break the comfortable silence, that and the stench of my dirty fur. I silently gagged as I sniffed my fur, when was the last time I washed?

I stood up and decided to quickly wash, I knew the stream was close so I wouldn't be far from my "base". I carefully looked around to make sure I wasn't being watched as I took off my gear and walked into the cool water and scrubbed my fur from top to bottom, getting rid of the smell and dirt that lingered on it.

After washing, I let my fur dry in the sun while watching the world pass. I knew that I would need to somehow contact the Resistance and regroup with them, I just didn't know how...

I grabbed a small sip of water and nibbled on my food bar, it wasn't much but it will have to do.

I felt someone watching me, like an unshakable feeling of chills down my spine.

POV: Infinite

Every day that wolf made me more interested in him as I watched from a branch. My long tail curled and flickered beside me. I wore my signature mask but only because I wanted to hide my true identity from the world.

Surprisingly, he wasn't wearing his usual gear, wasn't he cold? It wasn't the warmest of days currently, hell, even I felt cold.

He doesn't look to be that effected from the nightmare...

He's too persistent in bringing hope, like Sonic.

But then again, I could break Sonic.

And I can break him.

Bringing my hand to the ground below, I spawned in a Sonic illusion and used the events of this week to persuade the wolf even more to follow this illusion to me.

Once created, I fled to a dark part of the forest and waited.

You will bend to my will, wolf.

POV: Gadget

I heard running footsteps behind me and spun around, only to be met with a familiar face. "Sonic?!" I gasped and put on my gear, minding my cast.

"R-rookie!" Sonic stammered and panted. "I finally found you, come on! The others are waiting for you!" he grabbed my hand and pulled me along the forest trails. I tried to keep up with him while looking around, "Where are we going?" I asked while panting.

"We're almost there!" Sonic ignored the question and ran into a clearing in the darker side of the forest.

"What? Sonic, where are we? Where are the others?" I asked and stopped, looking around wearily.

"Not here." A dark voice spoke up and appeared behind me, before I could retaliate I felt a hard blow to the back of my head and collapsed.
