Gadget's POV:

As I strode through the desolate streets, I came across an abandoned house which was just barely standing. I recognised the place almost immediately and sprinted into the unstable building.

My home...

Looking around, everything reminded me of those softer times. From the pictures on the walls, to the furniture that still held some scent of my parents.

Everything is the same...yet oh so different.

My amber eyes scanned the house, it had been a year since I last stood in these tired walls. I remember my mother, it was her sweet voice that taught me how to cook and would compliment my father's strong tone. I remember my father taking me out and play fight with me, he would teach me how to fight with small wooden sticks. I never knew back then that I would be fighting a war I couldn't win, not with the odds stacked against me and the Resistance.

Wiping a falling tear, I took one last glance around my home before exiting the old building. "I promise mom, dad, to make you proud" I sighed. "Be strong, that's what you taught me.." I choked back a sob and walked away from the ruin.

Be strong.

---

Composing myself, I searched for a refuge, something that can hold for a little while as my hand healed. I was physically exhausted, the hot - real - sun was beating down its powerful rays and I was on the verge of collapsing and letting myself burn in the heat.

Suddenly, my dull eyes caught a small cave, I dragged myself to the cave and slowly sniffed around in case I ended up dead meat to another mobian, or worse, a bear. Finding no scents, I pulled myself inside the cool cave and sighed in relief as the ice cold ground hit my burning body. Using the last of my strength, I pulled myself against the wall, my body screamed for rest, I decided to curl up and get some shut eye.

Infinite's POV:

Things have been boring for me. Now don't get me wrong, I love to torture helpless civilians but it's not the same, I admittedly loved the thrill of having someone to try and stop me, like that red wolf, now he's gone it seems all too easy.

FAR too easy...

As I finished up my thirteenth kill of the day I sighed heavily, sweat dripped through my mask and it was getting too heavy and humid. Damn sun.

I decided to get some rest for the day, I knew my body and mind would cooperate more if I did rest. So, I hovered around the sky to find a place to rest without having to wake up to find some crazed civilian trying to rip my guts out.

There was a small shack deep in the forest that seemed livable for a night or two. I dropped to the ground and sniffed around for any other mobians before opening the door to the shack and stepping inside, narrowly missing an axe thrown at my side, I jumped out of my skin and cursed loudly, "SWEET CHAOS!" I panted and looked around. "Who's there?" I shouted, for a shack, it was bigger on the inside.

No response.

I raised an eye ridge at this and ventured deeper into the base. There was no one here. "Must have been a trap" I shrugged and used my ruby to create an invisible barrier around the shack so no one could enter.

Taking off my mask, I breathed in the slightly cooler air and huffed, placing my mask down and sitting against a wall. Quickly, I fell into a deep slumber, nothing but darkness clouded my mind.

Gadget's POV:

"Gadget..."

"Gadget..."

"Help..."

"Please..."

I spun around, my mom and dad appeared, whispering repeated phrases while looking at me.

"Mom, dad?" I ran up to them, only for them to scream in agony.

"NO! STOP!"

"PLEASE!"

I was taken back by their screams and backed away. "M-mom?..." My voice shook, suddenly, my face turned pale as their postures changed.

My mom was suddenly screaming, on the floor with blood coating her once vibrant fur. She was panting heavily and begging for mercy.

While my father fend off the attacker, holding a knife in his hand he kept the mobian away from my mom. I tried to interfere but...

They disappeared.

Only a scream echoed through my skull.

"AHHHHHHH!!"

---

I jolted awake suddenly, sweat coated my fur and I swear my heart could explode at any second. Panting, I regained my breathing and looked around.

Still in this cave...

A pain in my hand made me wince, right, I still had this darn cast. I relaxed my hand and stood up, fixing my glasses before heading off to search for food. My stomach was grumbling all night, I needed some form of nutrient and fast.

Walking back into the city, nothing smelled of delicious food. Instead, it smelled of rotten corpses along the roads. I supressed my gag as I walked by the bodies, there was definitely signs of Infinite and civilians raiding shops for supplies around these streets, and I didn't trust it.

"Come on, there's got to be something around here..." I whispered to myself and continued looking around for supplies. It was an apocalypse here, every shop had their windows broke in and raided, there was still fires in buildings, corpses everywhere, not to mention the odd gunshot in the distance every once in a while.

My ears perked up to a faint scream and a gunshot, I folded my ears.

I couldn't save them...

I can't save anyone...

Fighting back tears of hearing another civilian getting shot, I didn't find any source of food in the city.

"I'm going to starve..." I grumbled and turned around to head back to the cave. "Better than getting shot..I guess" I huffed sadly and trudged through the thick forest.

As I walked through the forest I used my old jug to pick up some fresh water from the river stream close to the cave. "At least my thirst is quenched" I shrugged and sat outside my cave, drinking the refreshing water; but that did not cure my aching stomach.

"I'm going to turn insane here" I chuckled and sighed, hugging my legs with my arms.

"It's fine..."

It's fine...

Infinite's POV:

I woke up to nothing but the odd bird chirping. Oh yeah, I'm in this shack, I forgot about that.

Standing up, I brushed back my long strands of silky white hair and fastened my mask.

I need to wash.

My mask reeked of sweat and so did my body, I grunted and walked out of the shack, removing the protective barrier and trying to find a stream or pond to quickly wash in.

To my luck, there was a small stream in the thick forest, so I quickly removed my mask to wash it and then washed my body in the cool water. Once out, I shook myself off to dry some of my fur before putting on my clothing items and mask, the sun will dry the rest of my fur.

Now, to another day of terrorising and death.

How fun~
