Chapter Seventeen: Dilemmas

POV: Infinite

"So, I think we should hide no longer, we will have to fight eventually and therefore risk our own lives doing so" I explained. "We will go up to the Resistance and finish this once and for all"

I could see Gadget deep in thought, it was a very risky move to go up to the Resistance and fight, but with my ruby it won't be that much of a problem.

The only problem is Shadow...

"And if they ask you questions, you can tell them all that you are comfortable with" I looked at the scarlet wolf. "I will not be too far from you during the fight, but I'm sure you can hold on your own"

Gadget nodded thoughtfully, "I guess that could work, though I lost my fire wispon during the war" he frowned.

"I can craft you a weapon using the ruby" I replied.

"Alright, I think this could work" he responded.

I still don't know where his loyalties lie...

I guess I will find out when the plan is put into action.

"But for now, we need to rest up" I sighed. "We can begin the plan tomorrow" I rested against the wall.

Gadget nodded, "Right...and if we succeed in the plan?" he questioned.

"If we succeed, we take down the doctor and rule the world together" I smirked.

Gadget glanced to the floor, "I see" he hummed softly and moved so he rested with me, putting his head on my shoulder.

Soon, my little wolf, I will find out who you will turn to in the end.

Mark my words.

"I will do my part in the fight, but it comes down to us in the end, remember that" I grunted. "For better or for worse, we will find out tomorrow"

"Okay..." Gadget replied softly and sighed.

We stayed in silence for a while after, until thunder crackled through the sky and startled us. It then started to pour with rain, heavy rain, so I decided to make a small fire at the back of the cave so the rain couldn't put out the fire.

Curling up beside the warm flames, we were basically a mess of scarlet and black fur, our tails somewhat intertwined for body warmth as it started to hail outside.

Gadget had taken off his glasses and gear to get more comfortable and I had also taken my remaining gear off too so it was just our fur and the flames keeping us toasty inside the cave.

I rested my head against the wall and stroked Gadget's sides, he emitted soft purrs as we cuddled.

You're too adorable for this horrible world, wolfy...

"Zero?..." Gadget's faint voice spoke out, his ears were folded back and he looked distressed.

"Yes?" I seen his upset expression and folds my large ears, "What's wrong?"

"What if...I loose you tomorrow?..." his amber eyes looked into mines deeply, searching for answers not even I have.

I sighed and rubbed his side, "You won't, it'll take a lot to take me down" I chuckled faintly and cupped his cheek. "Gadget, if worse does come to worse, it's up to you to carry on for me, you're strong and I know that for certain"

Gadget smiled gently before hugging me tightly, "I don't want to loose you though!"

Oh Gadget...please don't make this harder than it already is...

I can't loose you either....

I wrapped my arms around him, "Gadget, look at me"

He immediately looked me in the eye and waited for me to continue.

"You're strong, very strong" I started, "There will be a time where we will be separated, we are just living in the wrong world at the moment" I sighed. "I want you to look on the bright side of the world, even when we are separated, you know I'll always be here" I placed my hand on his heart.

"So please, I know we're in a difficult time, but you have to keep going, in order to survive at the end of all this and thrive" I kissed his forehead.

"What happens tomorrow is up to fate, we cannot change fate itself, we will evolve around it and hopefully we will still be together at the end of all this" I finished.

I could see Gadget's teary eyes, he nodded softly and ran his delicate fingers over my white furred cheek, I nuzzled into his hand.

"I promise to keep going, for you, for the sake of everyone, for my family" he whispered gently and snuggled into my embrace.

I purred and nuzzled into his neck, "Good" I closed my eyes. "I love you, little wolfy"

I could hear a faint chuckle coming from Gadget, "I love you too"
