After being inactive for years Anonymous is back. Shit is going down and suddenly 2020 just got a hell of a lot more interesting 👀
Holy fucking shit I hate this chapter.
Like I could literally cry I hate it so much. Definitely one of the chapters in this book that when I read I just have to take a moment to ask myself what the fuck was going through my head when I wrote it because MY GOD IT SUCKS ASS. Just gotta get this over and done with 😓
So. Yoongi and Namjoon have entered the scene. There's a bit of dialogue involving Yoongi and Merric, including Meow Meow dissing him and being sassy. Merric retaliates by trying to attack but Namjoon gets in the way. And our lovely werewolf decides to use his best attack against his enemy: his bite.
During this commotion, Merric decides to grab (Y/n) and make a run for it. Our MC eventually decides to fight back by dropping to the ground. Good quick thinking 👏. As a distraction, (Y/n) wants to play 20 questions. This is where that guy from the party in chapter 9 comes back. The guy she ran into while going to dance with Tae? Who was supposed to be a werewolf? He's Merric's friend and he tells Merric about (Y/n). Knowing she's with vampires, Merric decides to track her down.
After that, this is the part where Merric reveals he bit Namjoon. And this is where my hatred for the chapter begins. Why? Because here's the thing: I'm so S T U P I D. As I said in the commentary for the first chapter, MERRIC IS A GOOD FRIEND. And yet my plan for him from the beginning was to eventually become antagonistic. How are you supposed to go from one extreme to the next? A perfect friend that everyone will love because he stayed by MC's side from the beginning to someone who will make you want to tear his ball sack apart? My logic back then was to make him hurt one of the members. Yup, have him attempt to kill Namjoon. Because of course THEN EVERYONE WOULD HATE THE MAN.
Am I saying he had a valid reason to bite Namjoon? No, not really. I mean I guess you could say it's part self-defence but really, he's a fucking werewolf. I'm pretty sure he can get out of a fight with a vampire without resorting to that.
But I just can never forgive myself for doing this to Merric. The reasoning behind the bite in my opinion is so overwhelmingly moronic and I will forever hate myself for it.
Merric and (Y/n) argue back and forth for a bit, both making a few decent points in my opinion regarding the incident. Eventually it ends up with the heroine somehow being able to convince Merric to help save Namjoon (which, side note, I sorta get why it's important to her. Does she know Namjoon? Absolutely not. But he has literally done nothing wrong to her. I don't think I'd be able to live with myself knowing someone innocent died and I did nothing to help them when I knew I could. Especially since I'm part of the reason he got hurt in the first place. Like, if I hadn't lied about my whereabouts, Merric never would've had to track me down and none of this shit would've taken place).
Her reasoning for him to help: if he doesn't they won't be friends. Very mature, I know. Now, her whole "he put himself in this situation" is true, in my opinion. As I stated before, Merric didn't HAVE to bite Namjoon. But I still believe Merric is a good friend. He came for her because he's worried and naturally doesn't trust vampires. I respect him for that.
So (Y/n) leads Merric to the dying Namjoon. The werewolf saves the precious leader after being nagged by MC and receiving a sarcastic remark from Yoongi. Merric plans on leaving and taking (Y/n) with him but he. Gets. Slapped.
And here my hatred grows even more. (Y/n) really did not need to do this. This man helped Namjoon even though he really didn't have to and only did because he cares about her and this is how she repays him. She is STUPIDO, that's all I'm gonna say. The amount of rage I feel...I just can't put it into words
In the end, (Y/n) wants to stay here because "she has friends here, and likes Jimin". Bruh 🤦♀️. Yes, you have friends here and believe me when I say I love Soomi and Miori. But Merric has been your friend for how many more years? And yes, if I was in her situation I'm sorry but I'd leave my best friend for Jimin in a heartbeat, no questions asked (sorry but IT'S FUCKING PARK JIMIN AND THAT WOULD BE A ONCE IN A LIFETIME CHANCE. BTS MEANS WAY MORE TO ME SORRY NOT SORRY I KNOW I SOUND HEARTLESS). But think logically and imagine if this wasn't Jimin but some random other guy she went to live with. She barely knows him and for some reason is choosing him over someone she's grown up with. This is not a normal situation. Her reasoning is just...wow.
Merric decides to let it go and just leave. And (Y/n) watches feeling "somewhat" bad. She does acknowledge that he's only looking out for her, trying to protect her LIKE THE GOOD FRIEND HE IS. But she doesn't like him trying to control her life. And yeah, coming to this home and trying to force her to go back to her family isn't exactly the way he should've gone about this, especially since he knows how awful her family is. However, HE DOESN'T LIKE NOR TRUST VAMPIRES AND JUST TAKING HER BY FORCE IS PROBABLY THE FASTEST WAY TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE. For him, anywhere far from vampires is safe. So in a way is he being controlling? Yeah but I understand his intentions behind it.
And that's all for this chapter. Finally I've gotten through it. Fucking hate this chapter so much. Now I've just gotta dread the next hated one that is coming up soon 🙃
