A/N: Hello! I want to emphasize that fanfiction is not canon. I love clones and I don't want any of them to die. Also writers block really really delayed this.
(Also I probably only have like 5 chapters left)

"You can't be serious," you commented, inching away from him.
Rex sighed and put his arms around you, pulling you close to him again. "If you're leaving the order, why can't I leave the army?"
You opened your mouth to respond, but nothing came out. He was right.
"(Y/N), love is a two way lane. Being apart of the GAR doesn't change that. We knew in the beginning that we weren't going to be a normal couple. We have to make sacrifices."
"We know how this war will end," you whispered, thinking back at the documents you found, "what's the point in staying here? At any moment I can be picked off by people I consider my friends. I want to leave."
"I have an idea," Rex muttered, his tone getting serious.
Rex didn't hesitate to explain his idea. It was a long shot and seemed kind of crazy, but you liked it.
"Rex," you hesitated, "I don't want to do this here. It doesn't seem safe."
He nodded, seeing your point, "When we get somewhere sterile though - ,"
"Yes," you cut him off, "But we really should be getting some sleep."
You could see the fear in his eyes but you could also see him trying to beg you to not worry about him. As much as you wanted to help him fight his internal struggle, you knew you wouldn't be much help. He sighed and agreed with you, instantly putting his arms around your body, pulling you close to him. You kept thinking about what he said about leaving the war for you, and you felt selfish for wanting that to happen. Rex's arms settled on your back after rubbing for a moment. He pushed your head into his neck, kissing the side of your head once. Though you just had a heavy conversation, you couldn't help but smile every so slightly. Rex's arms were always your way of knowing everything would be okay.
"I just want to save my brothers," he whispered into your temple. He feared for his brothers. Even though his chip was removed, all of his brothers, hundreds of thousands of them were at risk. You could feel this thought begin to take over his body. The second he fell asleep, he would become a ticking time bomb for nightmares. Just thinking about Rex having nightmares hurts you.
"Hey," you smile, sitting up out of his arms, "let's get outta here!"
Rex gave you a confused look, "what?"
You laughed and grabbed his hand, pulling him up, "Let's go on a walk."
He scrunched his face and tilted his head, "Now?"
"Yes, ner alor'ad, right now. It's a beautiful night."
Rex gave you a tenderhearted smile and got up, exiting the tent with you. The night was calm and warm, perfect for a walk. He reached for your hand, and you happily grabbed it as you dazed up at the stars and planets in the sky. The wild life chipped around you both as you strayed further and further from the camp site. You were glad you were wearing your Jedi robe since it covered most of your skin, helping you avoid bug bites.
Rex started slowly swinging your intertwined hands, his step being a little more lively. You noticed this and cracked a small smile, then continued admiring the night sky. It was perfect, but not as perfect as the man standing next to you.
"This is nice," he mumbled, walking you over towards a gorgeous, large purple tree. You and him sat down next to the trunk, the long hanging flower covered branches providing privacy from the rest of the world.
As soon as you opened your mouth to talk, Rex playfully shoved you to the ground and leaned over on top of you. "Rex!" you laughed, rolling him over so you were over him.
This started a rolling fight between you and Rex and you both rolled under the tree together, laughing the whole time. The fight for dominance ended when you reached the end of the area covered by the hanging branches of the tree. His head rested only inches above of yours. You had a small strand of hair over your face and Rex pushed it out of the way, fully exposing the face he loves. You reached your hand up to his cheek, and rested it there. He gave you his signature smile before leaning towards you and kissing you softly. It wasn't a long kiss, but he let his lips linger over yours afterwards for a few moments.
"(Y/N)," he whispered, rolling off you and settling at your side. You didn't verbally respond, but you looked over at him and smiled. "I'm glad you suggested this."
For the first time since you and him discovered the sinister plan, Rex looked relaxed, and you could feel that he was.
"I can feel that," he whispered, turning his head to face you, your faces almost touching.
"Feel what?"
"The force," he smiled, "I can feel you using the force to reach out to me, to feel me."
Your eyes widened, "Have you always been able to do this?"
"Why did you think I made a move on you?" he laughed softly, picking you up and laying you on his chest.
This was new information to you. Your teachings never mentioned this, and you felt somewhat embarrassed, "I'm sorry Rex."
"What!?" he playfully gasped, "I love it!"
"Really?"
"Yes! It is so comforting to know that someone is always looking out for you and making sure I'm feeling okay. Believe it or not," he paused for a moment, "I think you doing this saved my life a few times when you couldn't be in battle with us. On. On. Umbara..."
You could feel his body become tense just by saying those words.
"...I truly believed I was going to die there. But I felt something guide me. A drive, a passion, love. It was you. I could feel you there with me, telling me that it would all be okay. I hope one day all of my brothers get to experience that. It's surreal."
There was nothing you could say to express how his words made you feel, so all you did was give him a jovial smile. A smile that insured him that he just made you happier than you ever were, even though you didn't think that was even possible. Rex hugged you tighter than he ever has before.
"I'm ready," he murmured, still hugging you.
You loosened your grip on him, "for?"
"Let's get out of here. Far away from this war, far away from everything," he exhaled, closing his eyes.
"Rex, what about your brothers?" you remarked, pressing your head into his chest.
"Remember my plan? Scratch that. You're a Jedi, a well respect one for that matter. Bring it to the council. I'm sure the Jedi can out rule the senate," he suggested.
You raised an eyebrow, "And why didn't we think of this sooner?"
He shrugged, "Just came to me I guess. What time is it?"
"0400," you answered after looking down at the time displayed on your wrist.
"Guess we don't have too much time left here together," he groaned, sitting up.
You remained laying on the ground, looking up at him, "Yeah," you agreed, "might as well make the most of it."
"I couldn't agree more," he devilishly grinned, picking you up off the ground.
Everything from there on was full bliss. Perfection. Nothing in the moment could ever ruin the magic you two made together, except of course, the recon droid that made its way near you two.
