"You have soft hands," he whispered, looking down at your hand.
"So do you, but I don't think that's what you wanted to say," You replied, using the force to chose your words.
"There is a rule us clones have to follow. We aren't allowed to form relationships," Rex started.
"I know. Jedi have it too. I have a hard time seeing why we can't though. I feel like I'm not like most Jedi, so I chose to think some rules are, well exceptions to me. But I know Rex, I know," you said, trying to comfort him.
Rex put his face in his palms then looked up at you. "You see, I like this girl. She's beautiful, she's so loving, she actually seems to care about me, she's so strong and I'm a clone. What should I do (Y/NN)"
You frowned, feeling his disappointment. But you couldn't help but notice that even though he was upset, he still looked so handsome. "Rex, I think you should tell her. Any girl would be lucky to have a guy like you," you looked away from him and got somewhat red.
"I just don't know how to tell her, and what if she doesn't feel the same," Rex asked, looking at your still turned away face.
"I think she will, I know she will." It was bold of statement for you to say, but you could sense his emotions. You knew who he was talking about. Your senses told you it was you, but your mind was already made up. Rex was worth breaking the code for.
"If she doesn't, she will probably hate me and never want to look at me ever again. Maybe she'll even shun me and what if-"
You cut him off, "Rex she cares about you!"
"How do you know that?!"
"Because the force, because-" You stopped for a second a second, "...Nulis..."
"What?" He asked, his eyes growing wide.
"Captain, who is it? Because I believe I already know who it is."
"General, it's yo-" You cut him off with a soft kiss on the cheek. He instantly turned red and began to talk after you left him speechless for a moment. "General, I am..I am, sorry sir," he stuttered.
"Rex. Maybe she feels the same way," You smile at him, resting your head on his shoulder.
"Here this may be more comfortable." Rex took off his upper armor and placed it on the floor. You put your head back on his shoulder.
"All those things you said about me," you started, getting red, "I feel the same. Towards you that is." Rex blushed as well. For a few minutes, you two sat there. It was very quiet. Your hand was in his and your head was on his shoulder. You could hear his heart beat through his shoulder somehow.
"It's against the rules, (Y/N). I can get court-martialed, you can get be stripped of your position," Rex started to say, getting off the bed.
You grabbed his arm and pulled him back down. "Rex, its okay if you don't want this."
"I'm not saying I don't want this, I just don't want this to ruin your reputation with the Jedi." Rex grabbed both your hands and looked into your eyes, his voice was so soft.
"I guess some people are worth breaking the rules for," you mumbled, looking at his lap, where your hands are intertwined with his.
Rex let go of your hands and pulled you in for a hug. You wrapped your arms around neck and pulled him in closer. Even though clones wouldn't have possessions like cologne, you noticed somehow, he still smells really good.
"You're worth it," Rex whispered in your ear, then kissed it. The touch of his lips sent chills down your spine.
"Does this mean we're," You started.
"Yes, ner mesh'la jetii," Rex finished. You made a confused face, yet you were happy at the same time.
"I'm pretty sure that's not an offense" you smiled, "But, I guess we're together." Rex smiled wider than he ever has before.
"It's getting late Rex," you frowned, looking at a clock, "Zyemus naktis captain." Your frown turned to a smile and you laid down on your bed. Rex was still siting on the edge of your bed. He started to put on his armor that he took off earlier.
Rex put his hand next to you on your bed and leaned over you. He planted a soft kiss on your forehead. "Zyemus naktis, ner mesh'la jetii," he smiled, then slowly lifted up.
"You can't just combine two languages Rex! That's not fair!" You laughed as he walked out your door. "Goodnight Rex," you added.
(.............)
The next morning you woke up and went to the mess hall for breakfast. You noticed the 501st sitting in a corner table, laughing together. The second you entered the room you saw Rex turn his head towards you and smile. You smiled back and walked towards the table.
"Hey boys, you ready for a break!" You asked, taking a seat beside Rex. Rex handed you a plate of food.
"General (Y/LN), I assumed you were coming so I picked up a plate for you."
You thanked Rex and started eating. The boys were talking about what they heard about Theed and what kind of fun things they were planning on doing. They were planning on staying at a campsite outside of the city and they asked you if you wanted to join. You turned down the offer because you're house there but you still felt bad for saying no. Regardless, the 501st seemed so excited.
Theed has been a peaceful place since the last battle there ten years ago, so you were excited to go back. The more you listened to the clone's talking, you were becoming upset. They had no money because they never needed it, so they only had rations given to them for the three days they off. Tents were also going to be supplied to them. That's why they were staying on a campsite. You looked at Rex and your heart started to ache for him. You cared about all the 501st but obviously, Rex had the largest room in your heart.
"(Y/N), are you ready to go home?" Anakin asked.
"What?" you replied because Naboo wasn't technically your "home". "Oh yeah, I am. Can't wait!" You responded after realizing what he meant.
"General (Y/LN) has a nice house on Naboo," Anakin added, "I got to get her to let me stay there."
"There's only one room Anakin!" You argued, smiling because you got your way. Rex raised an eyebrow at you. You laughed to yourself. He looked cute when he did that.
"General Skywalker, come in. We are preparing to land on Naboo." Anakin's comlink went off. The 501st and Anakin left the table and went to the barracks to change into their civilian clothes. You stayed behind and Rex did as well.
"Didn't know you had a home on Naboo," Rex said, placing a hand on your knee.
"Yeah, I've had it for a while. It's nothing much. One bedroom, fairly small. But it's a place to call home," you faintly smile. "Did you sleep well?"
"Best night's sleep of my life." Rex got really red. He asked the same to you and your answer wasn't much different.
"Let's get ready to leave, I believe you need to get ready," you told him. He saluted you and put his helmet on before walking out.
"Oh and Captain!" you added, "If you don't want to stay in the woods, I have a place for you to stay."
You could sense Rex smile under his helmet, "I could never turn down that offer."
