Rex woke up with you in the same position in which you two fell asleep. You could sense fear in him and all you wanted to do is remove that fear from him.

"I have some more chocolate chip pancakes for you," you almost sang as you planted a kiss on his lips. Rex was smiling through the kiss. Suddenly, he grabbed your shoulders and pinned you down on the bed. He was straddling on top of you when he went in for a kiss, but right before he was about to kiss you, you used the force to roll him over so you were on top of him. You laid parallel on top of him and you kissed him softly. His arms wrapped around you as you both stayed in the position for a couple minutes.

"I'm going to miss this mesh'la," Rex murmured, lifting up his head so it was buried in your shoulder.

"So am I, nuyak nulis," you sighed, knowing you wouldn't get this opportunity with Rex again anytime soon. "But we do have to get up. The Defender is picking us up in an hour."

"Alllrrighttt," he groaned, getting out of bed. As he was taking off his night clothes, you were making the pancakes he loved so much. You were somewhat angry that the war was already causing you to not have Rex to yourself, but it was a sacrifice both you and Rex knew you'd be making.  As you were putting Rex's plate together, you could sense him coming near.

"Mesh'la," he said, putting a hand on your shoulder.

"Yes?" you replied, turning around to face him. He put both his hands on your shoulders and his golden brown eyes met your (e/c) ones. You knew he was going to say something, you could sense it, you just didn't know what.

"The war promises nothing. I'm a clone. I was made to fight and, if needed, die. I'm sure you know this, but I may not even be alive tomorrow and that's the reality of a clone."

His words made a tear shed from your eye. He wiped it off with his thumb and went on.

"Because of the uncertainties, I want you to know that, ni kar'tayli gar darasuum ner mesh'la jetii," he stopped for a second, but he was smiling. You had no idea what he said and he was aware, "I love you my beautiful Jedi."

You froze inside. Mesh'la. Beautiful. He's been calling you beautiful this whole time. And he told you he loves you.

"I love you too Rex," you replied, pulling him in for a hug. It became real to you now that you were breaking Jedi Code. You have beyond officially developed an attachment and now you have openly admitted to loving another person. Regardless, you still felt as if Rex was special and that it's okay you're breaking the code with him.

Rex enjoyed his last real food, at least for a while, with you. The both of you knew the time you spent together during the past two days was about to become beyond rare. When he was finished, he sat on your couch as you got ready to leave. You saw him playing with something in his hands, but you didn't think much of it.

"Alright Rex, let's go," you sighed, grabbing your lightsaber from the counter.

"Thank you for allowing me to have an actual place to call home mesh'la. I have enjoyed these past two days with you. I hope to come here many, many more times," he smiled, pulling you in for one last hug.

"It's my pleasure, nulis," you hugged him back, tighter than ever. The two of you looked into each others eyes to exchange one last kiss. It was passionate, his lips kept pressing harder and harder into yours. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he started to lift you up. Your feet were no longer on the ground. Rex's strength made you internally swoon. The kiss kept getting deeper and deeper, then Rex's comlink went off. It was Fives.

"Hey Rex, where are you and the General? The Defender is almost here!" Fives seemed very worried.

"Uh, we're leaving the hospital now," Rex replied. Your time with Rex was officially as you two made you way to the randevu point. The walk to meet up with the rest of the 501st was emotional for both of you. Because you were afraid of clones assuming you two were in a relationship, your contact was restricted to just hand holding. His large hands perfectly wrapped around your smaller hands. You let go of each other's hand as you approached the randevu.

"There you are!" Jesse said, approaching you, "I was beginning to think something happened!"

"Ah, you worry too much," you told Jesse as you walked onto the Defender with him. "Did you enjoy your break?" you asked.

"Definitely sir, and you?"

"I must say I did," you smiled.

(...............)

Anakin called you up to the bridge to brief you on the situation with Kamino. From what you were learning, it wasn't too pretty. There was already a separatist blockade around the planet and there is some evidence of attack vessels being assembled underwater.  About half of the army was sent to defend Kamino. You looked out the bridge window and shook your head. How dare they attack Kamino. It was a bold move, very bold.

Because the ride from Naboo to Kamino is so long, you got bored quickly so decided to go meet up with the 501st. They always seems to be hanging out in the mess hall so you checked there first. You were right. When you approached the table, they weren't in usual happy mood. No one was laughing. No one was cracking a joke. Hardcase wasn't even to try to flirt with you when you sat down. You were about to ask why the mood was so drab, but you already knew why. The only place these men can call home is about to be destroyed by the thing they were designed toi destroy.

"General, we're sorry we're so slum. The concept of what's about to happen is hitting us hard," Tup frowned, putting his face in his palms.

You sighed and assumed you should leave them alone, so you went to your quarters. The bed was cold, as the rest of the room was.  Under your pillow was a book you were reading before you left for Naboo. After warming up the sheets a bit, you started reading the book. Hours passed and you were almost done with the book. It was around the time you would eat dinner when there was a knock on your door. You unlocked it with the force before yelling, "It's open!"

In entered Rex. "Hey mesh'la," he mumbled, shutting the door and flopping onto your bed without invitation.

"Nuyak nulis, please smile. I love your happy mood over your saddened mood." You used your hand to force his mouth into a smile.

"You're too cute," he laughed, rolling over so he was on top of you. Except he didn't stay straddling you for long, he collapsed and started to cuddle with you. He took on the role of big spoon as he wrapped you up. You nuzzled your head into his arms and kept wiggling closer to him.  That's when you realized, he started singing.

"Mhi solus tome, Mhi solus dhar'tome, Mhi me'dinui an, Mhi ba'juri verde,"  Rex sang. He had an amazing voice. You had no idea what he was singing, but that was okay, you just let him sing. All you knew is that he was repeating the same few lines, and that it was probably some Mandalorian song. Rex's soothing voice was able to put you to sleep and not long after you fell asleep, his singing stopped as you two of you got to spend yet another night together.
