Right Person

He ended the call. I hurriedly wiped all my tears and went out of the comfort room. Bumalik ako sa table namin ni Kendrick and he smiled the moment he saw me.

"Took you so long. Who was it?" He asked but his smiles didn't fade. I faked a smile, hoping that he wouldn't notice it.

"It was Jacob." I answered honestly and his smiles immediately faded. I sat down and continued eating.

"Are you two okay?" He asked worriedly. I looked up to see him and I faked a smile again. I nodded.

"Everything is fine, Kendrick." I assured him.

After we ate, Kendrick paid the bill and lumabas na kami ng restaurant. When we went to his Mustang, he opened the passenger seat's door and sumakay na ako. I watched him as he jogged towards the driver seat's door. He, then, went inside and started driving back to La Salle.

Mabilis kaming nakabalik ng La Salle. I went out of his Mustang and walked towards my Montero. I didn't even wait for Kendrick. I was already inside my car and nagulat na lang ako ng nasa tabi na siya ng Montero ko. He knocked on my window and I rolled it down.

"Are you sure that you are okay, Martina? I'm worried." He said. I pursed my lips and sighed.

"There is nothing to worry about, Kendrick. I'm fine. I just need to go home already." I explained and he just nodded and waved at me. "Thank you for tonight." I said, thanking him.

I rolled up my window and started the engine. I smiled at Kendrick for the last time and started driving to my condo. It was a 30-minute drive because of traffic. I checked the time and it's already 9:30PM. I held the steering wheel firmly and drove as fast as I could the moment na humupa ang traffic.

When I arrived at the parking lot, I immediately went out of my car and hurried towards the elevator. I pressed the button, and I went inside. I pressed again our floor's button and waited until I reached the floor. Lumabas na ako ng elevator at dumiretso sa unit namin ni Ace.

Nasa tapat lang ako ng unit namin. Hindi ko alam kung papasok ba talaga ako or aalis na lang ulit. I wanted to see and hear Cob. I wanted to come to him. Pero natatakot ako. I was afraid that I might hurt myself again.

I was about to unlock the door with my keys when it suddenly opened. Tumambad sa akin si Cob na gulat din. I stiffened as I saw him and his things. Paalis na siya?

"Hey." He said and his expression changed. "I was about to go outside and wait for you there." He explained. I licked and bit my lower lip and looked down.

"What is it that you wanted to say?" I asked him, still looking down.

Nagulat ako nang hilahin niya ako papasok sa loob ng unit namin ni Ace. I heard him closed the door habang nakayakap ang isa niyang kamay sa akin. My eyes widened and my heart started to race abruptly. I closed my eyes in embarrassment because I knew for sure that he could feel my heartbeat.

"You heart is beating so fast, Tinay." He said while chuckling at mas lalong naghumirendo ang puso ko.

"Gago ka. You didn't have to say that." I said in annoyance.

"Can you feel mine?" He suddenly asked at mas inilapat niya ang tainga ko sa dibdib niya. I heard his heart beating as fast as mine. I love the sound of it. It felt like it was screaming my name.

"Why is your heart like that?" I still asked as I wanted to hear it from him mismo. I still didn't want to assume, mas lalo na sa mga oras na 'to. I might still be wrong, you know. Mahirap na.

"You make my heart race, Tinay..." he said and chuckled. It was so corny that I even laughed as well. But for some reason, my heart started beating faster and faster.
