Frightened by the sudden chaos of the droids and Jedi armies fighting each other, the Reek arched its back and threw Gonk and Gonk's friend to the ground. Gonk managed to land the right way up and thanked Anakin for making sure Gonk hadn't broken any parts.

Padmé was the first to find herself a weapon - a fallen blaster - and she joined the battle without any hesitation. Gonk, Obi-Wan, and Anakin stayed in the centre of the arena, ducking to avoid being shot while Qui-Gon and a group of other Jedi brought them lightsabers.

"Gonk," Gonk said as Qui-Gon tossed a lightsaber to Gonk. Gonk caught it using the Force and turned on the blade. It was Gonk's very own lightsaber and Gonk was happy Qui-Gon had found it for Gonk.

"Now, my  padawan, let us see how well I have trained you," Qui-Gon said with a smile.

"Gonk." Gonk thought Gonk's Master had trained Gonk very well.

The Jedi and Gonk's friends fought bravely against the droids. Many of the nasty droids were cut down and Gonk was proud that Gonk managed to destroy a few of them. But Gonk was worried, perhaps more so than any of the other Jedi, because Gonk was a droid Gonk's self.

Gonk wondered if these battle droids knew they were being mean. Gonk wondered if they knew they were killing the Jedi - the nicest people in the galaxy. Gonk wondered if they even knew what they were doing.

But still, Gonk fought. Because Gonk was a Jedi and Gonk would not let anyone hurt Gonk's best friends.

Gonk and Qui-Gon joined the small group fighting back in the middle of the arena. They were circled by the droids, their lightsabers flashing and slicing through the air. Around them, fallen droids and Jedi scattered the ground.

"Gonk?" Gonk asked Qui-Gon.

"Yes," he said quietly, "I have a bad feeling about this."

"Master Windu," Count Dooku called from a balcony high above them. At once the arena fell silent. "Surrender and your lives will be spared."

"We will not be hostages for you to barter with," Mace Windu called back. Gonk and the other Jedi nodded in agreement, Gonk's metal body bopping back and forth.

"Then you will have to be destroyed," Count Dooku said and the battle droids came back to life, raising their weapons once more.

Gonk copied Gonk's Jedi friends and readied Gonk's lightsaber, ready to fight until Gonk could no more.

"Look!" Padmé cried.

"I don't sense anything," Qui-Gon said.

"Clones!" Obi-Wan said, sounding confused. Gonk knew Master Kenobi was still having trouble with the mysterious cloning factory on Kamino, but even he looked pleased to see the ships landing beside them filled with the white-armoured army of twins.

The Jedi and Padmé rushed into the ships, Gonk and Qui-Gon staying close to Anakin and Obi-Wan. They all crammed into the same ship and watched the arena and the battle droids shrink into the distance.
