Gonk Force

Episode IX

Gonk used the Force to speed ahead of Gonk's companions. The hanger bay wasn't far from where they had exited the elevator shaft and Gonk didn't waste any time getting there. Gonk heard Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Palpatine enter behind Gonk a few moments later.

"Gonk," Gonk said, looking at the hanger bay. Nothing appeared to be in very good condition. Anakin's, Gonk's, and Qui-Gon's starfighters had been ruined by the battle droids. "Gonk," Gonk said heavily.

 "None of these ships will get us anywhere," Obi-Wan sighed. He planted a hand over his mouth as he always did when he was stressed.

"I agree," Anakin stated.

"Gonk," Gonk said. "Gonk?"

"I don't know where Qui-Gon has gone," Anakin said, having a good look around. "Perhaps he and the droids managed to escape already."

"Gonk." Gonk hoped that was the case.

"What are we going to do?" Palpatine asked.

"I don't know," Anakin said.

Stressed, Obi-Wan removed his hand as he realized everyone was looking at him. "Don't look at me, I don't know."

"Gonk," Gonk said.

"Well, yes, I might be the smartest one here, but still."

"Gonk."

"I know you have a bad feeling about this. I do too. I sense something is very wrong."

"Gonk."

"What are we going to do?" Palpatine interrupted.

"Here, put this around your waist," Anakin said. He glanced at Gonk then Master Kenobi as if they had been doing something wrong.

"We will go the bridge and look for an escape pod," Obi-Wan said proudly. "Now, Gonk, standstill."

Gonk managed to calm Gonk's nerves and stop shifting Gonk's weight between Gonk's feet as Obi-Wan tied a cable around Gonk's metal body. Obi-Wan made sure the cable wasn't blocking Gonk's sight and checked it was tight.

"Gonk," Gonk said.

Using the pipes to swing themselves to the other side of the hanger, Obi-Wan and Anakin helped Palpatine and Gonk to stay with them via the ropes around their waists. Gonk's little legs shot back and forth as Gonk flew gracefully through the air.

The ship was exploding around them, sparks and flames flickering left, right, and centre. Some stray battle droids fired at the group but Gonk was able to deflect their bolts with Gonk's lightsaber.

They landed and hurried through the second door of the hanger, escaping into a corridor. Gonk was untied, as was the Chancellor, and they started running towards the bridge. Gonk really hoped there was an escape pod because Gonk didn't fancy staying any longer on this ship.

When Gonk's human companions were out of breath they stopped for a moment. Gonk caught up with them and, without needing to breathe, Gonk simply allowed Gonk's legs a break. It was hard work running when one was a Gonk droid.

"That was close," Obi-Wan said.

Anakin looked at his former Master and laughed. "Not as close as that time on Geonosis. Remember how I rescued you from the arena?"

Obi-Wan raised his eyebrows as they started walking. "I seem to remember Master Yoda doing the rescuing."

"Gonk," Gonk said. Gonk thought everyone had played their part in rescuing each other that day. Friends always rescued each other when one was in need of help.
