Gonk looked out the open side of the gunship, staying back from the opening to stop Gonk's self from falling out. Below them on the sand, clones and battle droids fired at each other, their blasters sending colourful rays across the landscape.
"Look over there!" Obi-Wan called, pointing at a speeder as it flew past them. Count Dooku's cape flapped in the wind as he sped into the distance.
"Go after him," Anakin told the pilot and their ship changed course.
"I remember my old master rather well," Qui-Gon said. "Perhaps I could reason with him."
"There is no reasoning with him, I'm afraid," Obi-Wan answered. He looked rather annoyed with Qui-Gon and turned to watch the battle again.
"There is always room for negotiations," Qui-Gon pressed.
"Qui-Gon-" Obi-Wan started.
Something hit the ship and they tumbled, each of them falling around in the tiny space. Gonk squealed as Gonk was thrown into Anakin, who caught Gonk before Gonk could fall out. As Obi-Wan pushed his hair back from his face, he paled.
"It appears we have lost some passengers," he said.
Anakin suddenly turned to the open side of the ship. "Padmé!" he screamed.
"Gonk!" Gonk answered, for Qui-Gon had also fallen out.
"Put the ship down!" Anakin ordered the pilot.
"No, forget about her," Obi-Wan snapped. "Don't let your personal feelings get in the way. We have a job to do."
"Gonk," Gonk argued. Catching Count Dooku was not Gonk's job - Gonk had come to help save Obi-Wan and now that he was saved, Gonk had no assignment from Gonk's Master. This was Gonk's free time.
"I don't care!" Anakin cried.
"Anakin," Obi-Wan sighed. "She's alright, look."
Anakin and Gonk both peeked out the gunship to find Qui-Gon and Padmé waving for them to continue. As they watched the pair meet up with a clone, Dooku's speeder zipped past and Gonk felt a renewed sense of responsibility.
Jedi did not have free time - it was not a job Gonk could just pick up and drop when Gonk felt like it. Gonk was always a Jedi, no matter the day or year. Gonk couldn't turn Gonk's back on the Jedi way, and that way meant Gonk had to help capture Count Dooku.
"Follow that speeder," Obi-Wan told the pilot again while pacing the ship. He looked to Gonk who gave a small nod of encouragement then to Anakin who was still staring at the sand below. Gonk wanted to ask if he was thinking about Padmé or just the sand.
Crossing his arms, Obi-Wan leaned against the wall. "Why do I have a bad feeling about this?"
"Gonk," Gonk said. It was not Count Dooku or the battle that made Gonk have a bad feeling, but Anakin Skywalker's reaction to being parted from Padmé.
