Padmé led their small team into Theed Palace. Her companions followed her closely, Gonk at the back of the party with R2-D2.

The other droid had become friendly with Gonk while the Jedi and queen had been planning their attack. Gonk had been pleased to find R2 was feeling just as nervous and excited about sneaking into the Palace as Gonk was.

They stopped in the plaza of the Palace. Gonk bumped into Anakin and the boy gave him a stern look. There was no time to mess around.

"Gonk," Gonk said quietly, apologising.

A posy of Naboo guards, pilots, and troops stopped as Padmé used a red laser light to signal Captain Panaka and his own group at the other side of the plaza. Panaka returned the signal and they started moving again.

Qui-Gon leaned in closer to Anakin as they walked. "Once we get inside, Annie, find a safe place to hide and stay there."

"Sure," Anakin said.

"Gonk?" Gonk asked.

"You too," Obi-Wan answered.

"And stay there!" Qui-Gon warned.

Droid troops and a tank blocked their way. This end of the plaza was swarming with the enemy and no one seemed to have thought the battle droids would be there. A cluster of battle droids saw Gonk and Gonk's companions and started firing in their direction.

"Gonk!" Gonk squealed.

The Naboo soldiers and Padmé fired back at the battle droids, managing to take down quite a few of them.

While some of the soldiers and Captain Panaka stayed behind to deal with the droids. Gonk rushed to keep up with Padmé, Anakin, and the Jedi as they hurried into the main hanger. A group of Padmé's people followed in pursuit.

Gonk didn't like the sound of the alarms which rang out overhead. "Gonk," Gonk complained to Anakin but the boy seemed not to notice.

More battle droids started shooting at them. Gonk wondered what made these droids so angry and why they didn't stop trying to hurt Gonk when Gonk asked them to. Gonk knew there were some bad droids in the galaxy, but Gonk had not imagined them being as bad as this.

Obi-Wan looked to his Master while deflecting the bolts flying at them. "I have a bad feeling about this," he said.

"Relax." Qui-Gon flicked his lightsaber blocked a shot. "There's always a bigger droid."

Gonk bounced from one foot to the other. "Gonk," Gonk said, for indeed there were droids larger than these battle droids. As long as the Trade Federation did not have them, Gonk had no quarrel with big droids.
