Gonk found the Jedi reports interesting to listen to, but Gonk couldn't focus on what the Masters were saying as Gonk was worried about where Anakin was. As the senior Jedi voiced their knowledge, Gonk wriggled in Gonk's seat.
What if someone else - someone nasty - had found out about Anakin's secret? Had something terrible happened to Gonk's friend? Would Anakin be expelled from the Order? Would Gonk ever see Anakin again?
The small lecture ended while Gonk was busy worrying about Anakin. When Gonk snapped back to reality, Gonk found only Obi-Wan was still in the room with Gonk. Gonk thought he looked quite stressed.
"Gonk," Gonk said.
"Yes," Obi-Wan sighed. "It has been a long day. I don't suppose you have any idea what trouble Anakin has gotten himself into now?"
Hesitating, Gonk shuffled between Gonk's two feet.
Obi-Wan noticed and his eyebrows knotted together. "You don't seem to be well, today, Gonk. Do you have a loose wire?"
"Gonk!" Gonk said, rather offended.
Obi-Wan held up his hands in surrender. "Perhaps we are both simply overworked."
"Gonk," Gonk agreed.
"Master," Anakin said, appearing in the lecture room. "I'm sorry, I have no excuse."
Gonk knew Obi-Wan was not impressed - he had been the one to raise Anakin as a boy, yet here Anakin was running in late. Master Kenobi was always on time for everything that involved the Jedi Masters.
"You missed the reports on the Outer Rim sieges," Obi-Wan sighed.
Gonk felt as if Gonk had also missed the reports, regardless of the fact that Gonk had been in the room the whole time. Gonk thought it was best to keep that to Gonk's self, though.
"What's wrong?" Anakin pressed.
"The Senate is to vote to grant the Chancellor more power today." Obi-Wan didn't sound impressed with the news and Gonk didn't blame him. The Republic was becoming less and less of a democracy every day.
"Is that bad? It will make it easier for us to win this war."
"Gonk," Gonk said. Gonk did have a bad feeling about this, but Gonk didn't want his friends to fight.
Obi-Wan didn't argue, however. He simply fixed his robes and started up the stairs. "Be careful of your friend Palpatine," he warned Anakin.
"Be careful of what?" Anakin said, turning to face his former master.
"Your friend, Palpatine," Obi-Wan repeated. "He has requested your presence. All of this is unusual and its making me uneasy. Relations between the Council and Chancellor are stretched."
"Where are you going?" Anakin said, following Obi-Wan outside. The two Jedi stopped for a while to let Gonk join them (Gonk still had trouble with steps) and then they continued to stroll down the hallway.
"For a drink," Obi-Wan said. "I feel as if I have earned it."
"Gonk," Gonk said. Gonk thought Master Kenobi had more than earned it. "Gonk. Gonk."
As Obi-Wan turned down another hallway, Anakin and Gonk kept together.
"You have been summoned also?" Anakin asked. "What could all this be about, I wonder."
"Gonk." Gonk didn't know why Sheev Palpatine wanted to see Anakin, but Gonk knew why Gonk was going to see Gonk's friend who had summoned Gonk. Gonk was going to have fun!
