13. Dress Shopping

Recap: 'What if this was real'

"Carly!" Mary yelled and Carly snapped back into reality. Carly, Mary, her mother and Keri, Daniel's mother were currently in a cafe , getting breakfast before dress shopping. It was only the three of them, Daniel's sister hadn't wanted to come and Amanda had work. 

"Carly I have been calling your name for 2 minutes now. What are you thinking about?!?!" Mary asked and Carly mumbled a nothing before walking forward in the line. Daniel had woken her up with only a towel around his waist before heading off to change, leaving a blushing Carly in place.

She was to help him sort out a few files that evening after the whole dress shopping thing and Carly wasn't so excited. She wondered what she would have been doing if this deal wasn't in place. Probably with one of her friends in a similar line. "Uh 1 avocado toast bagel and a mocha frappe please" Carly smiled at the man behind the counter and he smiled back at her.

"That would be $10.50 beautiful" he flirted and Carly handed over the cash, trying not to say anything. Her ring flashed in the light and the cashier's eyes widened at the ring. "Your married?" He asked as he handed her the change. "Engaged" She said before grabbing her food and walking back to Keri and her mom.

"Well now that you have your food, lets go!" Keri squealed. All along the car ride, Carly was being thrown questions after questions about the wedding. "What do you want the theme to be? We thought blue since both you and Daniel's eye colour is that" Keri said and Mary nodded from the drivers seat.

"Sure. It would look good" Carly said, and Keri continued on with the questions. 'What flowers would you like in your bouquet?' and 'Who is the bridesmaids', and so on. Finally, they reached a grand bridal gown shop and Carly stared in awe. "Wouldn't this cost a lot" Carly gaped and Keri shrugged. "Daniel's paying so I don't mind" Keri grinned and grabbed Carly and skipped into the shop.

Her mom laughed and followed. "Hello and welcome to Elegancey's Bridal- Oh. Your Carly Difflin" The worker gaped and Carly smiled softly. "Hi. Please consider me like everyone else. Just a normal girl" She said and the worker nodded. "Of course. Of course. I'm Jacklyn and I will help you out today. Your budget?" She asked and Keri can up beside her.

"Anything's fine as long as it suits her" She said and Mary nodded. "We'll even pay extra, but it need to be grand" Mary grinned and Carly shook her head. "I want it just memorable enough. I don't want to spend too much of Daniel's money" She said and Jacklyn led her into a little booth type thing and made the moms sit there.

"Ok so we have a few dresses here. Lets begin." She said, leading Carly alone into a dressing room. "Oh this place is beautiful" Carly smiled and Jacklyn grinned. "Thank you. I'll tell mother" She said as she gently hung the dresses. "Mother?" Carly asked as Jacklyn helped her into the princess style dress. "Yes. Just between you and me, It's true right? Your marrying Daniel Seavey?" Jacklyn asked and Carly nodded before walking out of the room.

"Oh its beautiful. But I don't think it suits you well darling" Mary said and Carly nodded. "Not my style" Carly mumbled. This went on for a while before Carly walked out of the dressing room. Her stomach was grumbling, and it was almost lunch time.

"OH MY GOSH! This is it Carly, This is IT!" Keri squealed and Mary nodded, her jaw dropped. "It looks better than my wedding dress" Mary said and Carly sucked in a breath at her reflection in the mirror. The girl in the mirror looked beautiful, no messy hair, no eye bags because despite them being there, because the lace dress hid it.

Jacklyn came and placed the veil before giving her a flower bouquet to hold and Mary burst into tears. "Your growing up so much. God I remember when I ran around, trying to get  you to eat and now your standing in front of me, going to get married" Her mom sobbed and Keri comforted her, her own eyes teary.

"How much is it?" Carly asked, smoothing out the light crinkles and Jacklyn said "$80,000". "80 thousan- HOLY SHIT" Carly said and Mary glared at her through her tears. "Language dear and we'll take it" Keri said and Carly's jaw dropped. "I refuse to spend 80,000 on a dress-" Carly began but Mary shushed her.

And within the next 15 minutes, Carly was back in the car, with Keri and Mary, a big bag consisting of her dress and veil on her lap. She scrolled through social media, grinning at Clem's post of Corbyn's shrunken suit. 

Getting out at her apartment, well hers and Daniel's, Carly tugged the dress up the elevator much to an old lady's amusement and unlocked the door, and placed the dress on the couch before getting herself a glass of water.

"Goddamn this dress" She huffed, dragging the heavy bag up the stairs before hiding it in the back of her side of the closet, for she was under strict rules to not let Daniel see. Collapsing on the couch, Carly scheduled a gym appointment tomorrow before binge watching on netflix, letting herself feel like she did a week ago. Carly noted the time to be 5 and just as she was going to get herself a chocolate, the door suddenly opened.

On its own.

Ahaha, that must sound like some horror movie shit. Well oops :)

But this was a short filler chapter. Who do you think opened the door?

Keri saying 'Any amount cause Daniel's paying' Is like the best stg. I keep wanting to put this book on hold cause I need more ideas. Like I know where the books going but idk how to get it there, oh gods.

I need to go fucking brainstorm, ughhhhh.

A small announcement that I 99% won't be able to update from this wednesday, i.e 11th June to 17th June, thursday. No I'm not taking a break but the laptop won't be available to me. I posted about this in my announcement section, you should check if you don't :)
