Daniel slowly opened his eyes, bright light blinding him and he let out a small whimper, unheard because of his dry throat. His fingers lightly moved and Carly jerked up. Her eyes widened and filled up with tears at Daniel's open eyes.
She pressed a buzzer and then wiped the tears now freely falling. Daniel noticed she was still in her red dress and heels, but she didn't have make up on and her eyes were bloodshot and puffy. A doctor walked in and checked something.
"Mr.Seavey your fine now. We managed to get the bullet out and it didn't touch anywhere close to your heart. But it did puncture an artery but we fixed the issue. Do not stress your shoulder, your on bed rest for a few weeks. And maybe tell your wife to get some sleep, she's been up all along" The doctor smiled.
"How long have I been out?" Daniel croaked out. "3 days but its normal, don't worry" The doctor said and Daniel's eyes widened looking at Carly who avoided Daniel's eyes. The doctor left after checking a few things and Carly fiddled with her fingers, the air suddenly filled with tension.
"Carly you didn't need to stay up" Daniel croaked and Carly looked at him, eyes filled with tears upto the brim. "Daniel the doctors said we were a minute too late to the hospital. I thought you were gonna die. And it would have been my fault" Carly broke down crying and Daniel shuffled in bed.
Carly wiped the tears and helped him up, pressing a button that raised the upper half of the bed so he could sit. Daniel gestured her to sit on the bed and Carly did so cautiously. Daniel used his good arm, his left and pulled her closer. "Thank you. But its ok. We're both fine now, right?" Daniel whispered, kissing her head and she placed her head on his chest.
"Your family went home just an hour ago. I told them to go shower and sleep. They have been up too. Anna was crying badly" Carly whispered and Daniel froze up, but relaxed lightly. "They were up all three days?" Daniel asked and Carly shook her head.
"I got them to sleep once they moved you to the room. VIP rooms really have an advantage with the family lounges" Carly said and Daniel frowned. "Then why didn't you sleep?" He asked and Carly shrugged. 'Maybe because thats another death on you' Katie snickered and Carly screwed her eyes shut.
"You need to rest-" Carly began but a nurse walked in with a tray of food. Daniel winced as he tried to move his hand and Carly moved so she was facing him and began feeding him the food. "Thank you" Daniel said, chewing on the mac & cheese and Carly smiled. "Anytime" She whispered, and the door opened.
"Carly I got you clothes- Daniel!" Anna yelled, running to slowly wrap her arms around him. "Hi Anna" He said gently, slowly and hesitantly wrapping his left arm around her. "Daniel I hope your better" Amanda said, kissing his forehead in a sisterly manner.
"Carly the nurse said you can use their bathroom. Come on, we got clothes!" Amanda dragged her away, Anna on her other side as Keri took over feeding her son. "What are you guys doing?" Carly asked cautiously and Amanda grinned. "Setting you and Daniel up. Or atleast making you realize your feelings" Anna winked and shoved her into the bathroom.
"My clothes!" Carly asked and Anna smirked. "We'll give you at the end" Amanda said, and closed the door. Carly sighed, stripping and getting into the shower. Taking a proper shower for the first time in three days, Carly was grateful for such hospital rooms and the fact that they had enough money to afford one.
Carly finished showering, and walked out of the small shower to find the bag Amanda had on the floor. Carly curiously opened the bag, and her jaw dropped. "Anna! Amanda! Give me different clothes" Carly yelled and she heard laughter.
"No can do baby. We brought only that" She heard Amanda's voice and Anna laughed. Groaning, Carly changed into the clothes. They had given her a pair of high waisted ripped black skinny jeans, a black sports bra and underwear to match, and a turquoise one shoulder off sweater with black chunky boots.
Carly noticed the make up bag within the larger one and put on a bit, making sure it wasn't too much because they were at a hospital for gods sake. Carly walked out, glaring at Amanda and Anna who winked at her.
"Um Mrs.Seavey?" Came a voice and awkwardly enough, both Keri and Carly answered a "yes" at the same time, and Anna burst out laughing. The whole family looked at her, not having seen her like this in years but Carly narrowed her eyes playfully.
"Um...Mrs.Carly Seavey. The bill for the medicine needs to be paid" The nurse said and everyone stared at Carly. "You paid for the room?" Jeff asked with wide eyes and Carly grinned sheepishly. "I gave in my credit card number for all the expenses" Carly said and Keri opened her mouth to say something but Carly shook her head and walked out to pay.
"You actually paid for it all" Anna caught up to Carly who nodded. "But why" Anna asked and Carly shrugged. "They pointed a gun and they were dead set on killing Daniel and" Carly's eyes began watering.
'Carly your gonna ruin your makeup STOP CRYING LIKE A BABY' Katie yelled at her and Carly took a deep breath. "You felt helpless?" Anna asked quietly and Carly looked at the younger blond girl.
"I know something happened. I don't wanna know what but I'm here if you need someone" Carly embraced the girl who hugged her back tightly. "I wanna tell you. You're the first person who even looked at me like I don't have this scar and-" Anna choked on her sobs and Carly swayed them.
"Its ok sweetheart. Take your time, I don't care" Carly said and Anna looked up at her. "No you see what happened was-" Anna began but they were cut off by yelling. "Code 780.39 IN ROOM 521" A nurse yelled and both Anna and Carly's eyes widened.
"That's Daniel's room"

I'll try to double update this but I haven't updated my other books so maybe if I have time, then after that.
Um, theres a lot of suspense but I swear it'll be worth it, I hope but n e wayss.
Code 780.39 is an actual thing doctors use, don't search it up yet, will be revealed in the next chapter <3
