Corinth Pov
I woke up in a white room, nurses pacing back and forth. Where am I. I tilted my head to see Caleb talking to my mom. What was he doing here?
" You're up." My mom said as she raced over to me. Accompanied by Caleb who had a worried look reflected on his face but he stayed at a safe distance. Her eyes were puffy; her face pale. She looked like she had just died.
" Where am I?" I asked looking around my new confinement. I had a massive headache. I could feel the nerve by my ear pulsing.
"You're in the hospital," she said sympathetically. I mean I connected some of the dots but what was I doing here?
" Why am I. . ." Mom intercepted.
" Well you fainted and we brought you to the hospital, Caleb said he came over to speak to you and you became panicked." I glanced over at him. His eyes held fire and I knew he pitied me. I hated pity, I hated having people walk around as though on splinters not to trigger me.
"Can I speak to her alone?" Caleb asked my mom to which she nods. I didn't want to speak to him.
" Mom could you stay." I never met his gaze.
" I don't feel like talking to anyone so could you ask him to leave?" I asked harshly. He takes it as a notion to leave, he nods and runs his hands through his hair frustratedly.
" Goodnight Mrs.Sealey," he muttered before leaving. His eyes find mines one more time and I felt like all the air in the room left all at once. I don't allow myself to get completely lost in it and I look away.
" You know he has been by your side from the moment you went unconscious." she spewed a bit of dejection in her tone. I say nothing and she continues.
" The least you could have done was hear what he had to say." She seemed disappointed in me.
" Mom you didn't tell him. . . "She intercepted my question before I could finish.
" Of course I didn't," she said reassuringly. I smile at her and that was all I recalled that day before the rest of the sleep aid kicked in.
After a few hours, I noticed a blurry version of my mom pacing back and forth.
"Hi mom," I said in a weak tone. She smiled at me and takes a seat.
"How do you feel?" She asked.
"I feel somewhat ok, but don't worry about it," I reassured her with a warm smile.
" Of course I'd worry, the doctors informed me that you can go home today and that you should get some rest,"
"Hi Corinth." A tall white man with deep blue eyes and neatly carved facial hair, dressed in a white overthrow, and a sphygammanometer wrapped around his neck entered the room.
"Hi." I sat up, blinking my eyes to help the room look less blurry while my mom reaches over and holds my hand
"Sorry that we are now meeting, but I ran a couple of test, your body seems tense and the MRI shows certain areas of your brain such as your amygdala hippocampus and prefrontal cortex seemed stressed.I want you to be more careful moving forward and to take care of your health, I already discussed everything with your mom, I didn't allow visitors for today just for you to get yourself together."
I just nodded.
"I prescribed a couple of tablets that could help balance off your emotions and hopefully prevent anymore episodes like this one. Well I'll leave you two now."
"Thank you." I smiled gratefully. Before resting my head back unto the pillow and once more dozing off.
