Corinth

"Why did you have to act like that back there?" I shouted at Joshua as I made my way out of the car and up the stairs to our front door. I was angry, he had no right to treat him the way he did. I'm pretty sure my loud steps made that pretty clear.

"Really, Corinth I thought you would know why." He looked at me giving me a knowing eye as he parked the car.

"Well since I don't." I unlocked the door." Won't you fill me in." I added sarcastically.

"Don't get smart with me, that boy isn't good for you, he has his own problems." He retorted slamming in the car door as he locked it.

"That's the thing, you seemed not to understand, we all have problems of our own, what makes his worse?" I bellowed.

"Corinth."

"No don't, after all I've been through, he understood me and was willing to take things slow for me."

"Who wouldn't, you're an amazing girl, despite everything, you have been still fighting all this time."

"So has he." I bellowed. My emotions  clawing at me to set them free.

"I'm sorry Corinth." He said walking toward me with his hands in surrender.

"I don't want to hear it, not this time Joshua." I walked toward the kitchen. Mom was making breakfast and the kitchen smelt like seasoned eggs.

"Good morning mom." I entered the fridge and glanced through picking up the cartoon of milk and taking the box of cereal on top of the fridge. All while not making eye contact. My hands were trembling.

"Hi dear, glad your home safe I was worried." She placed her hands on my shoulder as she leaned in to hug me. I kept looking at the cereal in my hands. Never before had cheerios looked so interesting.

"I'm glad too," I removed her hands from off of me." I'm tired mom I just want to go sleep okay."

"Are you ok?" mom asked at my distancing frame.

"I'm fine." I looked over my shoulders.

I felt distraught, something in my heart was telling me that nothing was okay anymore. Taking those retreating stairs to my room. Looking around at the room. The drawings on my walls and the writings on the wall.

I missed him. I missed Caleb.

I placed the things on my Chester drawer and kicked off my heels.

Looking up to the ceiling, my thoughts racing. Running miles at a time.

My phone pinged.

Unknown: hey it's Caleb

Me: hey I was just thinking about you, r u home?

Caleb: Yeah I am, I need to talk to you about something.

Me: ok sure. I felt nervous and I sat up my nerves going on overdrive.

Caleb: what your brother said wasn't wrong, I didn't consider your feelings or what you had been through.

Me: Caleb doesn't say that I did the same to you back at the Cabin.

Caleb: let's not do this anymore. Reading those words made my heart twitch. My body felt warm and my eyes became glossy.

Me: please Caleb don't.

Caleb: I can't

Me: Caleb are you there? A tear fell onto the screen.

My heart rate speeding up. My fingers trembling.
