Irene decided to isolate herself. She told Suho she needed space. Her husband didn't agree but Irene was persistent to give herself a time. It was all about Lisa.
Irene walked nearer the bridge, desperate to inhale fresh air. She can't help her mind not to get dominated by Lisa.
Her beautiful smile.
Fair skin.
Ambitious thinking.
Passion.
Everything was something to get crazy about. Addicting, like a nicotine.
A shaky breath escaped her lips. She licked her lower lip as she adjusted her coat. The breeze was making her shiver.
"I didn't believe in myself when I said that I don't need you" Irene chuckled.
"It will always be you, Lisa. I am forever loser in fighting against my feelings towards you"
"Irene" a voice said that made Irene shut her eyes when she got startled.
"What theee..." Irene huffed, half annoyed that she got interrupted on her mini drama.
"Don't use me that tone. You look like a ghost here, all white in a very dark place. It's not November yet so stop doing this shit" Joy said to her bestfriend.
"Why are you even here?" Irene asked.
"I was on my way to the night market but I noticed your car, all familiar and ugly. Then I saw you like a creep" Joy stated that made Irene fuming mad.
"Was all the insults necessary?" Irene asked.
"For you? No. For me, yes." Joy chuckled that made Irene stifle a laugh.
The two sit at the edge of the bridge like it wasn't dangerous. No one talked, they both enjoyed the dark place and the sound of water splashing at the rocks. Calming and soothing to their ears. Joy clicked her tongue and decided to break the comfortable silence.
"Irene, I'm not trying to pry but I, I heard from you that you're still in love with Lisa" Joy said that made Irene frozen.
"The night that I came back from Cali, when you said you'll just used a lavatory. I thought of following you to give you my late wedding gift personally, but I saw you crying, over Lisa" Joy continued.
"Can you make me understand?" Joy asked softly.
"I still love that woman, I doubt if I can stop" Irene said sincerely. Joy stared at her with an unreadable expression.
"You'll hurt Chaeyoung" Joy said. Irene quickly shot her a glance.
"... And many more" Joy quickly added.
"I wanted to get divorce with Suho. Even if I don't stand a chance with Lisa. I don't like drag Suho with this anymore" Irene said.
"Irene. This whole thing is complicated. Whatever step you'll make, there's someone who will get hurt. There's no safe path in here" Joy said honestly. Irene knew better than that, and she hates it.
"Do you want us to have a drink?" Irene asked instead.
"Drink? Alcohol?" Joy said with disgust.
"Yes..." Irene replied.
"Seriously? With this whole complicated situation?" Joy asked in disbelief.
"Count me in" Joy said laughing that made Irene sigh in relief.
"Idiot" Irene mumbled.
The two were wasted, intoxicated more than what's legally permitted. Joy, kissing the marble counter. Irene, sleeping like a dead body on the floor with her hands closed on her stomach.
