Chapter 13: bad news

"Be ready, alright?" Raheem said into the phone, before he hung up.

Today was the day, making this the fourth year since his father had left them. He's had a sad expression his face and he's being mean to his mother and Kai also. She doesn't understand what he's going through, but he should be appreciative that she's even by his side. His own bestfriend, Cornell ain't even there.

"You need something, some help?" Kai peeked inside his room, she had went inside his front room because his mood was making her mad.

"Kai I'm good, alright. I don't need shit, leave me alone for a minute." He replied, he was hurt and he wanted to be left alone, Kai understood because let her had of lost her dad she wouldn't want to converse with anyone.

"I lo-" Kai caught herself and left his room.

She hated being treated wrong, and she hated seeing Raheem like that. She wanted to comfort him and go lay down with him, but he needed his time. She couldn't forget what he did the other day, she was on cloud nine. He put her ass to sleep again, although she hadn't forgot about Diamond's ass, she wasn't gone search for her. See her when I see her then I'll handle my business with her.

"I'm ready Kai, we're picking the shit I put on his grave up then head to pick up my moms." He came down the steps. "You good? Lot of shit going through my head, didn't mean to snap on you." He pecked Kai's forehead.

Kai nodded. She was relieved that he'd said some words where he wasn't going in on her and he'd explained why he was being mean, a lot of shit going through his head. He just wasn't prepared for another year of being without his dad. He missed him and the thought of never seeing him or hearing him again hurt Raheem to the core. That was his role model. He had a lot of memories with his dad that he'd never forget.

"Raheem pick up these boots." His mother said.

Raheem mumbled something, before picking up the boots. His mother would nag him about keeping her house clean and he'd be disobedient every time.

"You like dirt or something little boy?" She said.

Raheem smacked his teeth.

"I mean why couldn't you bring the shoe, you see it." He replied.

Randy popped him in his head. Disrespect was something he wouldn't tolerate, he was raising his son the correct way. He'd seen Dante's son, Cornell out there slapping chicks and everything. He'd be damned if Raheem came up like that.

"Speak to her like you got some damn sense." Randy said.

Raheem smacked his teeth again. He got his boots up and went inside his room. He wanted to sleep, school and sports had him wore out. His coach had made him run the field atleast ten times and plus he didn't want hear his father's speech that he'd be giving him for disrespecting his mom.

He sent his girlfriend, Aaliyah a message and told her he'd text her when he awoke. He turned over and closed his lids. He heard his door opening with the creaking noise and he knew his father was entering.

"Rah." He said.

Raheem pretended to be sleep and shut his eyes tight. He had no time to be listening to him preach. He heard his door close and turned over only to be met by Randy's eyes.

"Knew your ass woun' sleep." Randy laughed. "Now, don't disrespect your mother nomore nigga. She ain't none of these females, she's your mom."
