It's fine. I'll simply find a new job. How hard can it be? Of course, it needs to be in the literature department. Because it's what my college diploma is about and there is no way, I'm going back to school.
Victor and Tyler are still coming tonight, so I need to keep it together for now. I look in the mirror, my clothes are fine. I don't feel like cooking and I don't want to ask them to cook. They are very good at it. It's not the problem, I've already asked them for a lot of things, I don't want to bother them.
You're still saying that?
What?
I don't want to bother them. Stop it! You won't! They like you, they'll do anything for you. Be sure, if someone told them that, to see you one last time they had to climb mount Everest, they would do it.
Why would anyone ask them that?
That's not the point! Stop feeling bad for asking for help.
Okay, I'll stop.
However, you should totally order something for tonight and wear perfume.
I roll my eyes.
What? I only want what's best for you.
Yeah...
I open my laptop and start a series on Netflix. It's great, obviously very entertaining. I don't watch that show to learn new things.
I look at the time.
Oh god...
They'll be here in less than an hour and I still haven't taken a shower yet. In the shower quick! I throw my clothes in my room and jump in the shower.
I come out and head back in my room.
No time to choose new clothes. I retrieve them and put them back on. What do I have to do? Brush my hair and put some mascara on. I can do that nice and quick. I'm a champion at making a routine quickly. Waking up too late is basically a part of my personality.
When I hear them knocking, my mascara, my hair and my perfume are on point. I fly to the door and open it. I happen to only see Tyler.
-Hi! It's good to see you!
-It's good see you too. Victor is sick, I'm sorry.
-It's fine, don't worry. Come in!
I close the door and take his coat.
-I thought we could order something.
-It would be great.
-How about sushi?
-I love sushi.
-Good. Do you want to drink something?
-Do you have sparkling water?
-Yes.
-I'll take that.
I open the refrigerator and serve two glasses. One for him, one for me. I sit down on the couch and invite him to do the same. He takes a sip and asks me:
-How are you?
-I'm fine.
-Are you sure?
I feel tears coming out.
-The store closed.
-You don't have a job?
-No.
Tyler takes me in his arms.
-You'll find one soon, you're an incredible person.
-You are the second person to tell me that, today. My employer, or should I say, my last employer said that too.
