"Jasper! Slow down!" I demanded once Jasper's speed walking became too fast for me to keep up with my heels on.
"Sorry," he mumbled letting go of my arm and slowing down so that we were now walking side by side at a comfortable pace.
"What happened back there?" I asked.
Jasper then came to an abrupt halt and turned to face me with an intense look in his eyes.
"I could tell you didn't want him touching you, and I didn't like seeing you kiss someone right in front of me," he admitted, turning his eyes away from me.
"Did- did you just admit you were jealous?" I questioned looking at him with an amused expression.
"No."
"Yes you did!" I teased, poking his arm with a huge smile on my face.
"Oh shut it," he sighed, wrapping his arm around me in order to hide the smile forming on his face.
"Your hand looks pretty bad," I commented, my mood immediately changing from amused to concerned.
"Well the son of a bitch had a hard nose."
"We should go home and get that cleaned up," I suggested, grabbing his hand so I could inspect it closer.
"I'm fine," he assured me.
"That wasn't a suggestion," said sternly, giving him the best 'don't fuck with me' glare I could muster.
"Fine," he huffed, turning into the garage where we parked so we could go home.
"Sit on the counter," I ordered as soon as we were back home and in the kitchen.
"Yes ma'am," Jasper said, rolling his eyes.
I decided to ignore him and focused on finding the first aid kit.
"Under the sink," Jasper directed.
"Thanks," I murmured, pulling it out and returning to him.
He immediately held out his hand and watched intently as I cleaned off all the dried blood and wrapped his knuckles in gauze before securing it with tape.
While I tended to his hand Jasper kept his eyes trained on me, watching my every movement intently, his gaze never leaving my frame.
Suddenly my focus shifted to something shiny on his other hand.
"That's an interesting ring," I commented, softly grabbing his hand so I can get a closer look at it.
"Thanks."
"Where'd you get it?" I questioned.
"It was given to me by my mother," he answered, his eyebrows furrowing together like he was upset.
"What do the runes mean?" I asked, not noticing his change in attitude.
"I will love you till the end of time," he said just as I felt a tear fall onto my hand.
I immediately shot my heat up and was greeted by the sight of Jasper with tears spilling out of his eyes. Making me immediately wrap my arms around him and draw him as close to me as humanly possible as he too wrapped his arms tightly around me and buried his face in my hair in response.
I don't know how long we sat there, wrapped around each other as he sobbed and I gently played with his hair in an attempt to comfort him.
"It's been years and I still can't believe she's gone," he mumbled into my hair.
"Loosing someone so close to you is always going to hurt, no matter how much time passes by," I replied softly, pulling away so I could look at him while I cupped his face in my hands.
"She would've liked you," he said, a soft smile finally coming across his face.
"Well I'm certain I would have loved any woman who helped you become the man you are today," I smiled back.
Before I could even process what was happening I was pulled into a soft and gentle kiss that sent shockwaves throughout my entire body.
Unfortunately before I could even react to the kiss Jasper hastily pulled away, his look of sadness that was etched onto his face now replaced with one of fear.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that!" He exclaimed, leaping up from his seat on the counter and rushing towards the door.
"Jasper wait!" I called out, moving to follow him.
"It's okay Clara," he said turning around slightly to look at me. "It's not like a kiss is that big of a deal anyway."
