Hours passed, and I began to zone out as I starred out my window at the night sky. Letting the music wash over me while my thoughts ran wild.
Suddenly I was snapped out of my trance by the muffled sound of someone yelling down the hall.
I immediately knew it was coming from Jasper's room and shot up from my seat and rushed down the hall not even bothering to knock before I bursted into his room and started shaking him awake.
"Jasper! Wake up!" I practically yelled into his ear causing him to shoot up in his bed and look around wildly as his laptop fell of his lap.
"Clara?" He asked softly when his eyes landed on me, almost as if he couldn't believe I was actually there.
"Yeah, it's me," I assured him, wrapping him in a hug. "You're okay."
He responded by immediately pulling me closer.
"I'm so sorry Clara," he mumbled into my hair.
"There's no reason to be sorry," I told him, pulling away from the hug and cupping his face in my hands so I could look him in the eyes as I spoke.
I immediately notice the dark circles under his eyes, that were almost as dark as mine, and immediately knew that he hadn't been sleeping.
"Jasper," I said in a more stern tone. "When was the last time you slept?"
"I haven't slept since that night."
"Jasper! How did you manage to stay up that long? That's not healthy!" I rambled, automatically knowing what night he was talking about.
"Funny how I tell you the same thing," he chuckled with a sleepy lopsided grin.
"Well I'm used to that kind of thing," I shot back.
"Whatever," he scoffed rolling his eyes.
"Common," I said, moving his laptop to the nightstand and grabbing his hands. "We're getting you ready for bed, you can't sleep in a tie."
"But I don't want to sleep," he whined, stumbling as he followed me to the closet.
"God you're like a child when you're tired," I huffed grabbing him a pair of grey sweats and a black t-shirt out of the closet.
I turned around and threw the clothes at his face, making him stumble again before turning back towards the door so I wasn't watching him change.
"Done," he mumbled right before letting out a yawn and falling back onto the bed.
"Well then I guess I'll see you tomorrow then," I said, awkwardly shuffling towards the door.
"Can you please stay?" He asked softly, as if he was afraid to even ask.
"Sure," I agreed, smiling and claiming my spot under the covers next to him.
As soon as I threw the covers back over myself Jasper wasted no time in wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me as close to him as humanly possible. In return I began running my fingers through his hair, to which he let out a deep sigh of content.
"Jasper," I whispered, breaking the peace.
"Hmm?"
"I just want to let you know that I wasn't mad at you for kissing me."
"You weren't?" He questioned, pulling back from me with a look of surprise on his face.
"Of course not!' I assured him.
"Really?" He questioned again, his eyes widening like someone who just found out they were going to Disney World.
"Really."
When he started pulling me closer once again I could've sworn that he was going to kiss me right then and there, but instead he simply placed a kiss on my forehead and proceeded to bury his face into my neck.
"Well now that that's out of the way I think it's time for you to get some sleep," I suggested, trying to distract myself from the butterflies going crazy in my stomach.
"I'm not sleeping unless you're sleeping," he stated defiantly.
"I don't even know if I'll be able to fall asleep," I argued.
"How long has it been since you slept?" He asked, repeating the same question I asked him what seemed like hours ago.
"Probably over a week, like you."
"Then you're going to at least try to sleep or else I'm going to stay up all night," he declared.
"Fine," I agreed, snuggling into his embrace. "But only because I usually don't stay up for more than four days."
He softly hummed in response before placing his chin on top of my head and tangling our legs together, completely encompassing me in warmth in comfort, a feeling that I had gone much too long without.
Within moments Jasper was asleep and I could here him lightly snoring. For me, however, sleep didn't come as easily.
I still had a million thoughts racing through my head all revolving around the man next to me, and I watched him sleeping peacefully I couldn't help but wounder what in that beautiful mind of his could be so horrific that it disrupted such a peaceful being in such a startling way. I found myself wanting to know everything about his past right then and there because there were still so many layers to this man and just because I had discovered his soft side didn't mean I was any closer to fully breaking down his walls.
But, instead of asking him the questions at the forefront of my mind I let him sleep, and basked with him in the peace we found in each other's embrace, and surprisingly, sleep soon began to come for me too and I fell into one of the deepest sleeps of my life, safely secure in his strong embrace
