"I'm not going to fucking leave you!" I shouted back at him, feeling my tongue go dry and my heart pick up even more speed--if that was even possible at this point.

"We're almost done!" I swore up and down, beginning to pull at the door as Addy took her bat to the chain.

I guess the bolt-cutters weren't enough. I could feel tingles going up and down my body as we were moving with haste. Then, I noticed how no more pleas were coming from my brother. There were no more pleas to leave him coming from my brother.

No more nothing. It was only his screams. It was his screams that played repeat in my head as he cried out in pure anguish and pain. Pure, absolute horror.

"NO!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, feeling my throat scratch until it was raw.

I kicked at the door while Addy finally slammed the handle of her bat in between the chain and door. And just like that, we got it open. Somehow, some way. By then, Mack was no longer saying a word, or even a straight note, to us.

His screams were playing inside my head as if they were background music for a horror movie. Please, don't leave me! Please! I swung that door open faster than anything I've ever opened, ready to kill and have blood cover me if it meant I could save my sibling.

And then I saw it. I saw my own flesh and blood pin to the wall by a horde of hungry, desperate zombies; flesh-eating, useless undead. I could feel vomit feeling my throat as the scene in front of me forever came burnt inside my head.

His bright blue eyes were clouded by tears and his mouth was filling with blood from where one of the Zs had punctured his lungs. Addy and I both stopped dead in our tracks as our hearts jumped down to our stomachs.

Mack reached his hand out to us, but it wasn't for help, "Lo-Look awa-ay.."

At only hearing his plea, I screamed again. I screamed as loud as I could as Mack's body began to fall limp on top of the bodies that kept him up. Look at us! Stop hurting him, please! Addy and I could only stare at him as he finally turned faster than anything I had ever witnessed.

Before I could make an inch towards him, a gun shot sounded off and Mack Thompson was gone from this world.

Vanished as if he never walked this Earth with me.

My brother.

The man who practically raised me.

The single person I had been such a bitch to.

The one person that saved me more than what I was actually worth.

I was suppose to be the one to go before him. I was suppose to be the one pinned against the wall, right now. I was the fuck up. I was the one who-who was suppose to die first. To put it simple, I screamed.

I screamed hard, my lungs having no more left in them as it turned into a silent scream and cry. I was going to charge right into that horde. I was going to claim my brother's dead body from the undead when a hand wrapped around my wrist.

"We have to go!" Addy shouted over my determination.

"I'm not leaving him!"

I promised to get him out of this. I promised to save him from this! The horde was still munching on my brother as if he--one single fucking human--was their favorite meal. I yanked back at her hand, but somehow Addy had gotten stronger than me.

She forcibly yanked me backwards, out of the door.

"I'm not losing you too!" She shouted even as I was yanking back against her, not caring if the stitches ripped open.

"Let me go!" I screamed, tugging me away from the gate my brother was still blocked from.

Why won't she just let me go!

"Please!" I yelled at her, looking at her as tears began to fall into my mouth and down my neck.

"I can't let you!" She cried back, snapping her head forward so she wouldn't have to see my destroyed face.

She was dragging me as I screamed, attempted--and successful a couple of times--to kick the back of her knees but she never let go of me. She never got tired of dragging me. She never gave up.

She never let go, even if it was for a few second, so I could run into that horde, head first. She dragged me out of that Hell-hole, out of the proximity of it and back into a neighborhood. I was never quiet.

I always attracted the attention that she'd have to eliminate herself. I was never easy. Then, we heard tires squeal against cement. And then we heard Murphy's voice. Murphy's voice.

Addy said no more as she finally released me and took off towards the man that Mack had died trying to find. I turned away from where I was wanting to head towards, and looking in the direction Addy was heading for.

I watched as Addy used the same end of her bat that she used to try and break the lock with to bust open Murphy's window. She unlocked his door that way and grabbed the front of his ugly shirt while he was still in shock.

She headbutted him to distract him further. She opened up the driver's door, literally dragged this man out of the vehicle only to punch him towards the ground. As he fell, I fell to my knees as well when it came apparent she was out for blood.

My shoulders shook in rage and horror as I only watched the two. Murphy was bleeding from his nose and his mouth, and Addy had no intentions of stopping. A war cry sounded from her throat, continuing the violent acts without mercy.

Mack had no mercy when he was dying an agonizing death. Cassandra came from the passenger side, but Stranger somehow got there in time to stop Cassandra from touching Addy. He pulled his gun out on Cassandra, who instantly stopped in awareness.

My lips began to shiver with my shoulders as realization finally donned on me. I couldn't go back to my brother. There would literally be nothing to go back to. Not even bones, I bet. By the time Warren and the rest of the group got to Addy, she was already straddling her victim--no, Murphy is no victim--her punching bag and beating the shit out of him.

And I just sat on my knees, watching them all interact with one another. Sad part? Only Addy and I knew what had happened to Mack. We watched him die. We watched him take his last breath. Addy gave him mercy where as I only watched.

Like I'm doing now. Mack wouldn't be able to enjoy the sight of his girl beating the shit out of Murphy. Mack wouldn't be able to enjoy shit anymore.

"Addy! Addy!" Warren shouted as she tried to get the woman off of the experiment, "Where is Mack?!"

At just the mention of his name again, I broke down once more. Mack was deceased. Mack was gone. Mack was no longer Mack. I cried out as my chest began to have pains going through it.

When 10K didn't see (Y/N) or Mack running up to grab Addy from Murphy, he looked around until he found the teenager, sitting in the middle of the road on her knees. Her face had the most destroyed expression he had ever seen on her.

With fists closed tightly, her face was bright red from the recent disaster. Tears pouring down her beautiful face in the most ugly expression. 10K could only guess one thing: Mack didn't survive where they had just came from.

Not thinking twice about his actions, 10K ran towards her the same moment she began to get up on her own. They all looked towards the broken girl as she shoved 10K out of her way.

"(Y/N)." Warren warned, finally letting go of Addy once she knew she was decently stable.

The (H/C)-haired girl said nothing but shrugging the hand 10K tried to use to slow her down. The teenager's pace was fast but more steady than it had been in the past hour, even as she felt light headed from all the straining.
