If Murphy wasn't completely done with the world before, he certainly is now.

"So, what now? Plan B or is it C? Give me a D, E, F!"

"Not helpful, Murphy." I muttered, digging my elbow back into his ribs.

Idiot.

"It's true!" He tried to argue, but Homer had interrupted his little rant before it could even begin.

"Alright, Robbie failed, but I can still do a manual S.C.R.A.M."

"How? The place is filled with Zs." 10K pointed out the biggest obstacle of them all.

"We'll go in there heavier this time." Homer added.

"Then, you're taking us along too. We've probably only got one more shot at a S.C.R.A.M."

I crossed my arms over my chest, refusing to allow 10K go back in there alone again. Just like my brother, this is how I told everyone I was standing beside my statement. They need help and if this time fails, we'd all go down knowing that we took it all the way.

"We'll need heavier suits to reach the control room."

"Where do we find them?" Warren questioned, not knowing of any heavy suits.

"In the lab, not far from where we lost Robbie. Four can go in, two in these suits. Me and the kid in the heavies."

I instantly grabbed onto 10K's shirt, not liking how he is getting more and more radiation in his body.

When he looked down at me, I spoke up, "Do you want to do this? Someone else can go with him."

10K shrugged off my hand from his shirt, nodding his head at my question. Ouch. That hurt a lot more than I thought it would. Why does it hurt? He's just rejecting me.. again.

"But what happens if Plan C doesn't work and we wind up with our very own Fukushima-Chernobyl-whatever?" Murphy questioned.

Not for our safety, of course, but for his own.

"You mean what happens to you?" Warren exposed the truth behind his question, raising an eyebrow.

"Hey, I didn't ask for the job of saving the human race." Murphy rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest.

And we didn't ask to get stuck with you.

"Amelia, would you be willing to fly him out of the radiation zone?"

That's when her brave, trustworthy face fell off of the plate. Oh, no.

"To be honest, I don't have enough fuel. I lied to my dad or else he would've never let me stay behind."

"Oh, great." Murphy's arms flared in the air, growing sick of this day by the conversation.

The experiment turned around, not wanting to hear anymore negativity.

"If I had a few gallons, I might be able to get myself and one other person outside the blast zone, if we're lucky."

Did I say something to 10K? I looked at him in the corner of my eye to study his facial features. Nothing. He was just staring at the ground under his feet. I did something to him, didn't I?

"Okay.." Warren took a deep breath as she went into her depth of knowledge, raising her index finger and thumb to her chin, "A buddy and I converted a Dodge Dart to run on alcohol. A plane engine isn't that different."

Warren rose her head to look at Homer, "You had a serious supply of vodka."

"You're welcomed to it."

I turned my head to the side to fully stare at 10K, trying to read his facial expressions. Nothing. No anger; no sadness. What did I do? What did I say?

"Doc and Cassandra go with 10K and Homer; you cover them. Murphy, Amelia, and (Y/N) with me."

"Given we have no other choices, I shall embrace the inevitable." Doc reassured Warren, lifting his ancient gun in the air.

I didn't step on 10K's toes. Is it because I talk too loud?

"If this works, we'll meet back here and celebrate."

As we were splitting up, I caught 10K's attention somehow. He looked like a completely emotionless solid; a blank canvas that the artist doesn't know what to paint on just yet. I shook my head at him once his eyes were focused on me.

I didn't do shit to him so he shouldn't be giving me the cold shoulder. I turned around to walk beside Murphy.

* 20 Minutes Later *

"Warren, this is Doc. Please be advised we have entered the tunnel to the reactor core. Over and out." Doc spoke over the radio that was strapped to my belt loop, opposite hip of my blade.

Warren ignored the voices as she walked over to the airplane's bottom, trying to figure out what was what. We had dragged the plane outside by the something under the cockpit with the golf cart.

"Let's see what's going on with this baby."

Murphy and I sat in the long--probably--, stolen golf cart. He was getting drunk by the second and I was just trying to figure out what I had done wrong to our sharp shooter.

"So, Amelia, my dear, where exactly might we be headed in this fine piece of aeronautical hardware? Considering it's only my life and the human race at stake."

"Sheridan, Wyoming." Amelia spoke, grabbing tools from the golf cart for Warren, "It's northwest and the fallout will be to the southeast."

Amelia added, "Far enough away, and my dad and I heard there's some real humans."

That's nice. I'm glad they're going to be making it while the rest of us turn into radiation zombies.

"I hope it works." Amelia muttered to herself, but we could all hear her clearly.

"Piece of cake." Warren removed herself from the back end of the aircraft, wiping her hands on her favorite red rag, "All I need is some tools."

Warren glanced at us to check on how we were doing, looked back, and did another glance at the man beside me.

"Murphy, could you quit drinking your fuel and fill up the damn tank?"

"I don't know where the tank is."

I looked up at the man as he took a long swing, "It isn't in your mouth."

I grabbed the container of vodka, and took it away from him like taking candy from a baby.

"Hey, I was drinking that! Are you even half the age to drink?"

"Are you even half human?" I retorted, taking a long swing for myself.

The burning sensation somehow relaxed all the muscles in my shoulders. It stung all the way down my throat, but damn, did it feel good in my body. It still stung even after I relieved myself from the beverage.

Damn. No wonder Mack always warned me about this stuff.

"Sheridan is 250 miles as the crow flies. Here's a couple more."
