I watched as the little girl cracked her eyes open before opening them wide enough to see the familiar face of someone she knew and loved.

It's best to not focus on what 10K just done anyway.

"Hey, baby."

The little girl seemed weak at first, but strength came to her as she sat up and hugged her mother's waist, "Hey."

The woman wrapped her arms around her child's shoulders, her hand cradling the back of her daughter's head so she wouldn't have to do too much to stay upright, "Mama's here. I came back to you just like I promised."

The little blond leaned away from her mother's embrace, "Did you find it?"

The weed? Why would a little girl nee--. Oh, the weed is the 'cure' for the zombie virus.

"Not yet, sweetie," The woman looked guilty staring into the eyes of her starry-eyed kin, "but we're getting close."

How far from the cure are they really?

After kissing the top of her young daughter's matching blond hair, she helped her lay back down, "Okay, you need to lay down."

Without struggling or showing resistance, she obeyed her mother's order. To get more comfortable and fall back asleep, she turned over so her back would be facing us. Radiation poisoning, maybe?

It seems like everyone we meet has that. While Doc and Warren moved things around to get settled inside, so they could speak to the only person we've made acquaintances to, I felt a tap bounce on my shoulder.

I looked up to see 10K nudging his head towards the cracked doorway.

"Are you okay?" I questioned his health as we walked towards the egress, trying to see why he's been acting so cold and quiet--quieter than usual--lately.

"I'm fine." His answer was as plain as a Jane, which didn't surprise me at this point.

His right shoulder leaned agaisnt the edge of the garage's door as his eyes scouted the area, searching for a clue as to where our target would be located. I crossed my arms over my chest, grinding my teeth together silently.

The way he was leaning and edging closer to finding that one particular person told me we didn't have the same person in mind.

"You're looking for her." I spoke without picking out any harshness that may come out with my words.

"Who?"

His eyes never came back around to mine, and he didn't seem to mind the violence behind my sentence.

"Cassandra."

"Despite what you might think," 10K sighed, turning so his back would now be leaning against the wall beside the door, "Cassandra isn't herself. You knew she cared for you before the bite."

Lazily, his head was turned towards me in a bored look. He stared at me as if I was the dumbest person in the room and he was getting tired of answering my repeated questions.

"But her present actions speak louder. If Cassandra was really still there, she'd fight to take control of herself."

Sighing audibly at my words, he finally turned back to the doorway that led to the outside world. Whether he thinks I'm right doesn't matter to me at this point. Cassandra was a big girl and knew how to take control of herself in any situation.

She was stronger than me, so why couldn't she be stronger even when the Z-virus is inside her? Why does everything have to be so different when it's Murphy's bite?
