9 • Peaches

Y/n pov:

I looked at the time on my phone and saw it was half 7. I jumped out of bed and went to my closet. I picked out an outfit and went to shower.

I was feeling confident today. I jumped out the shower and got dressed and french braided my hair since I didn't want to dry it. Then it was ten to 8 and Kairi would be here any minute. I decided to go and wait for him in the car.
When it got to 8, Kairi walked out of his door and saw me in the car. He ran to the passenger side and jumped in.
"Hey Bambi," He said softly.
"Hi Kai," I smiled.
"How are you today?" He asked.
"I'm okay today, and I'll tell you if that changes okay?" I reassured him. He nodded. "How are you today?" I asked him, looking at him.
"I'm good actually, but not as good as your fit it appears," He smiled as he looked at what I was wearing.
"Thank you, it's one you picked out for me. Are we picking up Dino and Monkey today?" I asked him. He nodded and I pulled out the driveway to pick them up. I got to their houses and they hopped in.
"Hey y/n, hey Kairi," They greeted us.
"Hey Dino, hey Monkey!" I greeted them enthusiastically.
"You're in a good mood today, what's going on?" Mattia asks as he looked at Monkey and smirked.
"Nothing?" I said confused. Him and Monkey laughed and me and Kairi gave each other weird looks. Then I pulled off the side of the road and drove to Starbucks I ordered the usual and pulled into the school car park to eat. As we were eating, we all talked.
"So Monkey, what's your name? Since I know Kairi and Mattia and since I'd actually class us as friends now, what's your name?" I asked as I looked over at him.
"Alejandro, but you can call me Ale if it's easier for you," He said.
"Ale it is, but Ima still call you Monkey if that's alright?" I asked, still looking at him.
"Whatever makes you happy I suppose," He laughed. I felt Mattia staring at me, I turned to look at him.
"Can I help you, Mr Dino?" I asked as I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Not really, I just noticed how everything about you is small and me and Ale need a nickname for you since you call us Dino and Monkey, so we can call you beanie, since beans are small and so are you," He explained.
"Alright then Dino, but Kairi calls me Bambi?" I said as I looked over at Kairi who was in his own little world, then I turned back to Mattia. "Why?" I questioned.
He shrugged, "I don't know, I guess he has his own meaning behind it but you should come up with a cute nickname for him since you have one for us. Kai is a bit predictable."
"I'll have a think about it," I said as I sat back in my seat and gazed over at Kairi who was eating the remains of my wrap. I took his drink and start drinking it. He looked over at me.
"Why are you staring at me? Do I have something on my face?" He asked, now paranoid as he reached for his drink. I took another sip and passed it to him.
"No no, just thinking," I explained.
"Abouttt?" He said, dragging out the 't'.
"You'll find out later on," I smiled. "Now come on, we're all going to be late. Just leave the rubbish in here. I'll clean it later."
We all got out the car and I locked it.
"Beanie, do you mind giving me n Ale a lift home tonight?" Mattia asked.
"Sure thing Dino, just meet me at the car," I said because walking to Kai and grabbing his hand, interlocking our fingers. "Cmon Kai, let's get to History." I looked over at him and he was at red as a strawberry.
"Why are you blushing?" I asked, really confused. He looked down at our hands. "Oh, sorry," I said as I tried to pull my hand away. He looked at me and shook his head.
"No," He said looking at me, telling me not let go.
"Come on then," I said as I pulled him inside the building. Everyone looked at us. I looked back at Kai nervously.
"It's okay Bambi, just focus on me," He said as he let go of my hand and put his hand on my waist, pulling me closer to him. Protective, I like it.
"Yo slut, you got a new man already?" Someone shouted. Why is his voice awfully familiar? I turned around and saw the one and only Mariano Castano.
"Shut the fuck up Mar, you had a new hoe the week after we broke up. We broke up a whole year ago so there's no already about it." I sternly said at him before turning on my heels, grabbing Kai's hand and walking off with him.
We got to my locker and I opened it, letting go of Kai's hand. He leant against the locker beside mine and looked at me.
"Y/n, who was he?" He asked as he looked at me.
"My ex-boyfriend. I'll tell you about him at lunch okay? Let's get to history." I said as I took my books out and closed my locker. Kai took them off me and carried them for me.
"Kai I'm not a baby, I can carry my own books." I whined.
"I never said you were a baby, but what's the point in the whole school thinking you're my girlfriend if I don't even carry your books for you? Besides, I want your arm to heal quickly," He told me. I looked at him, shook my head and giggled. We walked into the classroom and sat down. Kai placed my books on my desk and looked over to me. The teacher wasn't here yet. Kai turned so that his whole body was facing me and he put his elbows on his knees and gazed at me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked him suspiciously.
"I'm trying to read you, but it's so difficult," He whined.
"Then just ask," I stated.
"What do you mean?" He questioned, still looking at me.
"There's obviously certain answers you want, just ask me the questions." I said bluntly.
"Later," he said before twisting back around on his chair as the teacher walked in.
History wasn't bad. It was partner work with Kai and we got a lot of work done.

I arrived at Spanish with Kai and sat in my seat beside Mattia. "Hey beanie," He said as I sat down.
"Hey Dino."
"You got a nickname for Kairi yet?" Mattia whispered as the teacher walked in. I nodded in response and we began taking notes. "What is it?" He whispered as the teacher began talking again.
"You'll find out later," I whispered back.

•Skip to Lunch•

I was waiting in the cafeteria at our table with Mattia and Robert for the rest of the boys. I decided I was going to get food today but I was gonna go with Kairi. When he arrived, I dragged him to the queue with his hand as it was short and people were filling into the cafeteria.
"Woah, you saved me a long wait," He releases a sigh of relief as he looked at the queue behind us.
"Well I'm going to eat today and I didn't want to wait thattt long." I smiled.
"Okay Bambi," He smiled down at me.
"Okay Peaches," I replied.
"Peaches?" he questioned, looking confused. I nodded and smiled.
"Okay then, Peaches it is I guess." He smiled.
"Come on, what are you getting?" I asked as I dragged in forward in the line.
"The same as you," He smiled.
"I was going to get the same as you," I whined.
"You can, only you get to choose," he said as he bent down and kissed my cheek. I turned into a tomato right there on the spot. I hid my face and looked over at the table. I saw Mattia looked over at me. He smirked at me and gestured to my face. I rolled my eyes and looked back at Kairi.
"Mattia's being rude," I whined.
"It's okay, I'll protect you Bambi," He said as he put his arm around me and walked us forward.
"Thanks peaches," I giggled.
"You're going to have to explain peaches to me one day," He laughed.
"And you'll have to explain bambi," I laughed too.

We got our food, I decided on cheesy chips and sat down with the boys. Everyone was there now. I sat in between Mattia and Ale and Kairi sat opposite me.
"You guys got any plans for the weekend?" I asked as I started eating.
"We're having a sleepover at Mattia's on Friday night I think, he has the biggest room." Robert told me.
"We have a sleepover at someone's every week," Aloe vera added.
Mattia then said, "Beanie, you can come too if you want, since you're part of our friend group now."
I looked up at Kairi, "Are you going?" He looked up, realising I was talking to him and he nodded.
I looked at Mattia, "Sure Dino, I'll come along. What we doing on the Saturday?" I asked.
"I dunno, we were going to play xbox all day but since you're coming we can do something else." He admitted.
"It's actually quite rude to assume that I don't play," I told him. Everyone looked at me. "What? My brother is Jaden Hossler? You think he'd let me go a day where we was home without challenging me to a game just to boost his ego?" I laughed. They all joined in.
"I apologise then, we can play Xbox all day." Mattia laughed.
I looked back at Kairi who was looking at me smiling. He looked away once I found him staring. I went back to eating my chips.

I was waiting in the car lost in my thoughts. Having friends make things a lot easier. I don't struggle as much when I'm around them. They make me happier. I heard the car door on the passenger side open and close as someone got in. I didn't look at him, I just assumed it was Kai.
"Hey peaches," I whispered.
"Why are you whispering?" Someone whispered back. I jumped back and I turned to see Mattia.
"Shit sorry, I thought you were Kai. Hey Dino," I said and let out a sigh of relief. "Why are you say in the front?"
"I think we should have a new rule, whoever gets here first after school gets to have shot gun. But Kai still gets it every morning. Fair?" He explained.
"Seems fair, I guess. You guys need a ride every night then yeh?" I asked.
"If you don't mind," He added. "I used to get a ride with Mar but I noticed him saying shit about you so I dropped him," he shrugged. Kairi and Ale then arrived at the car. Kairi opened the passenger door and glared at Mattia.
"Move," He said.
"Snooze you loose," Mattia laughed as Ale got into the seat behind me.
"But that's my seattt," Kai whined.
"Peaches, sit in the back, you get shotgun once we drop off Dino and Monkey okay?" I told him. Mattia and Ale laughed at the nickname I gave him.
"Fineee," He moaned and slumped into the back seat behind Mattia.
"Dino has made a rule, care to share it with them?" I announced as I started driving home. He told them and they all thought it was fair. We arrived at Mattia's and Ale's and they hoped out and Kai moved to the front and I drove us home and pulled into the driveway.
