Chapter 2

I sit in the dining hall at a table with Peeta, and some other District 13 citizens. District 13 couldn't save Peeta's family, and the Capitol had them killed. The same thing happened to both me and Cato's parents. I don't care. I never loved my parents anyway. They were never there for me. Finch, Katniss, and Thresh's families are safe. I sit there, eating the bland food, when the Capitol logo flashes on a screen. I stand up and walk towards it, and see him, Cato. He actually looks healthy, surprisingly enough. "You're okay." I whisper. Ceasar begins, "Cato, can you talk us through what happened on that final day of the games?" Cato begins "Well, you have to understand, that when you're in the games, you only have one wish, and it's very costly." What is he saying? "It costs your life." Ceasar responds. "It costs more than your life, to murder innocent people, and that costs everything that you are." "I should have never let her go! That's when I lost her!" Ceasar looks stunned by his sudden outburst. "So, are you calling for a ceasefire?" He nods. "Cato Hadley, District 2." I hear people screaming that he's a traitor. I run off. He would never say any of that. I decide, I will help the rebellion, I'll be the Mockingjay. They'll have to do what I say. "Clove, you're needed in command." Boggs says. I follow him to command, where Coin is. "I've decided to be the Mockingjay, but I have some conditions." "Of course." "Cato and the other tributes will be rescued at the earliest opportunity." She shakes her head. "No." I'm starting to get more angry. "I said, Cato and the other tributes will be rescued at the earliest opportunity or you will find yourself another Mockingjay!" I slam my hands down on the table. Enobaria grins at me. "You were our target all along. The rebellion needs a voice." I turn around. "Then you should have saved Cato." I reply coldly. "Fine." Coin replies. Later that night, I stand with the rest of the population of 13. "Clove Kentwell has consented to bring the Mockingjay, but under 1 condition. The tributes will be rescued at the earliest opportunity. Finch Crossly, Katniss Everdeen," "Thank you." Peeta says quietly. "Cato Hadley." I'm instantly getting dirty looks, but I don't care. Cato will be back to me soon. And that's all that matters.

Yeah this was kind of a short chapter but I don't fucking care
