*Hawks's POV*
"Hey Birdie."
"No." I snapped, still sitting on the couch. "Unless you are going to tell me where you two were today, I don't want to talk to you."
"Kei, I just want to apologise for-"
"No! I don't want to talk to you unless It's you telling me where you were." Maybe I was being petty. I don't really care. Maybe I was being unfair, but I still don't care.
"Kei, please listen." I enclosed myself with my wings again, hiding. "I'm sorry for not leaving a note telling you where I was. I really am." He paused, and I could sense him scoot closer.
"Where did you even go?" He didn't answer, instead he tried to wrap his arm around me. I opened my wing, keeping him away as I stared him down. "No, not until you tell me where you went."
He sighed, looking down at the ground with a frown. He said something, but I couldn't understand him.
"Speak up."
"I took her to work."
"You what!?" I snapped, uncurling my wings as I glared at him. "You took her to the league?! What were you even thinking?" He put her in danger, they could've killed her, what did he do?
He didn't look back at me, instead looking down at the ground. He didn't answer either, but he needed to.
"Well?"
"Look, I needed to go to a meeting today, I didn't let her near anyone other than this one girl. I promise, I did my best to make sure she was safe."
"That's not good enough!" I stood up, glaring down at Dabi. "Why would you think that was good enough?!"
"I never said I thought that was good enough."
"Then why?" He didn't look directly at me. "You trusted her with someone who could have killed her!" I started towards the hallway but stopped when I heard Dabi speak again.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to check on Aika." I growled, turning to face him slightly. "If there is even a single scratch on her, you're not going to be watching her." Continuing down the hall, I opened the door, heading inside my room.
Aika was sitting on the bed, curled up against the headboard. She looked up at me with pleading eyes. She screwed her eyes shut and pulled herself into a tighter ball. As I got closer, she seemed to try and hide more.
"Hey Girlie, are you okay?" I asked, sitting on the end of the bed. She didn't answer, instead hiding behind her hair.
"Please don't." She had been crying.
"Please don't what?"
"Please don't hurt Touya. Or me, either of us, please." What?
"Why would I hurt you?"
"Daddy used to hurt me when he and mommy would fight. She would too. Please don't." She was visibly shaking.
Who the fuck would hurt this girl?
"I'm not going to hurt you Aika. I would never want to." I still didn't move any closer, not wanting her to be any more scared. "I was just coming to check up on you, okay?" She didn't answer, but nodded.
"And you won't hurt Touya either?" She asked, slowly uncurling herself.
"If I was to get in a fight with Touya, he would best my ass." I chuckled. "Don't say that word."
"Bad word?"
"Yeah, bad word." Aika smiled before getting off topic.
"Touya's friend said a bad word too."
"Did they now?"
"Yeah, they said the f one." She looked at the door and smiled before waving at whatever was there. I turned around and, sure enough, Dabi was standing in the doorway.
"Who?"
"The blue haired creepy one."
"That one was not my friend." He said, not coming closer. "He's just mean."
"Oh." She paused, thinking. "Is Ms. Toga your friend?" He nodded, slowly walking into the room. He would look at me, obviously reading my emotions.
"You could say that." He yawned, slowly sitting down beside her. She smiled, hugging him from the side. "You tired, Aika?" She nodded, also yawning before she closed her eyes.
"Come on Love Bird, come lay down." I sighed, narrowing my eyes at him. I could feel my face get warm due to the nickname, but ignored it.
With a groan, I laid down beside him, giving in and wrapping my arms around him.
"I'm still upset with you." I whispered when Aika had fallen asleep.
"I know. I'm sorry." I hid my face in his shirt, a small frown on my face. I tried to keep it there, but I couldn't help it. A smile easily took it place as I pulled away and gave Dabi a kiss.
He froze, eyes wide before he melted into it with me. It felt like forever, but I eventually pulled away and went back to my spot on his side.
"I know. I love you Touya."
"I love you too Keigo."
***
I got a comment about my schedule and forgot that some people might not read my announcements.
Oops.
I am going to start just posting chapters for this and Love For Unkind Souls whenever I have them done instead of following a strict schedule.
It's for my own sanity and motivation.
Whenever I have a chapter a day schedule planned, I always end up writing these chapters last minute unless I'm really motivated.
It just makes me more unlikely to start a chapter.
I tried to do a chapter a week schedule, but that just made me write an entire chapter on one day.
The schedule unmotivates me.
I still plan to update both stories, just not as fast.
As soon as I get back into my habit of writing 1200+ words a day, I'll probably go back to that schedule.
Also, enjoy this chapter, cause this story is about to go through one arc I've been planning since I introduced Aika into the story.
Shit's about to go down.
Love y'all :)
