*Dabi POV*

Me and Toga we're far from the ice cream parlor. No one tried to stop us.

Now, I love Toga, but she hadn't shut up for the past twenty minutes about how we didn't get ice cream. Rolling my eyes, I dug my hand into my pocket. I easily found the feather that I had found and gently ran my thumb over it. It was so soft.

I knew exactly whose this was, it was extremely obvious. I mean, it's bright red and was literally just flying in the air.

I felt someone swat at the back of my head and turned around. It was Toga with a sly grin on her face.

"Hey, pay attention to me. I'm talking." She said, crossing her arms innocently.

"No, you're ranting about ice cream."

"Same thing, you're still being rude."

"Look, I promised that we'll get ice cream another time. We couldn't really go straight back to the ice cream place after that." I continued to touch the feather when it suddenly jerked. My hand shot away from it and Toga tilted her head in confusion.

"What's that?" She asked, pointing to my jacket pocket. Glancing down, I shrugged and continued to walk. After a few seconds, I felt something slip into my pocket.

"What do you think you're fucking doing?" I asked Toga as she pulled her hand away. Turning to face her I saw that she had the feather in her hand, smirking at me.

"This is the Bird's feather, why do you have it?" She asked with a smile.

"That's none of your business, give it." I demanded, holding my hand out to her. Instead of giving me the feather, she held it away defensively.

"No, if you don't have a good reason to have it, then it's mine."

"Give."

"No!" She yelled, jumping back with the feather. "Why do you want it anyway."

"Come on Toga, don't be a bitch. Just give it back."

"Explain."

"I just want it, okay? Give it back." There was no way I was going to tell her why I really wanted the feather so much. How could I explain that I used to be best friends with the now number two hero? How could she understand how I've missed him so much?

We were almost at the base after a few minutes, close enough that I could see the bar from where we were at. She sighed, handing the feather back.

"Do you, like the bird?" She asked, tilting her head slightly. I didn't answer immediately, instead snatching the feather from her.

"You walk back, I'm heading back home."

"No we're having a game night! You never join us. It'll be fun." She whined, grabbing my hand.

"I'll be back later. I promise." I said, rolling my eyes. Toga let me go with a frow.

"Oh alright. I'll see you then. You'll have so much fun!" I watched as she waved at me with a new smile before skipping down towards the base.

I didn't really know what I was going to do for the rest of the day. I still had a lot of time left in the day.

The entire way back to the storage place, I held the feather the entire time. It was extremely soft, especially near the quill. It felt nice having it after pushing him away again. Honestly, I didn't want him to leave, but it wasn't safe for either of us.
