After Darry had baked the cake, Pony, Johnny, and I decided to go to the Nightly Double.
"What's the movie, Pony?" Johnny asked as he pulled out a weed.
"It's the same one we watched when we met Cherry and Marcia." Pony replied, lighting his own.
I felt a jealous pang jolt through my body as he mentioned Cherry Valance. Ponyboy had been stuck on the red headed devil since that night. At school she was constantly knocking my books out of my hands, making remarks at my clothes, hair, and makeup, having Randy shove me in lockers and just mean things like that. I had told Pony about it, but he didn't believe that perfect Cherry Valance could do such things.
"I wonder if she'll be there tonight." Johnny wondered.
"I hope not." I mumbled.
"Why do you have such a problem with her?" Pony yelled angrily at me.
"Ponyboy you know damn well why I have a problem with her! You're to smitten with her to open your eyes and see how cruel she is! Ask the gang what they think of her, they hate her too! You're unbelievable, Ponyboy Curtis."
~Pony's POV~
"...You're unbelievable, Ponyboy Curtis."
I stood there stunned and boiling mad. Mel stood, staring me down, until she'd had enough and turned and walked away.
Johnny looked between Mel and I, trying to decide who to side with.
"What do you think of her, Johnnycake?" I asked warily.
He kept his eyes down and shoved his hands in his pockets and shuffled after Mel.
"Great. Just Great." I muttered to myself.
I couldn't believe that she did that to me. Yet I felt bad because I saw that look in her eyes, the look that told me to believe her.
And to my dismay, I found myself slowing beginning to.

Ooh kill em! Sorry this is such a short chapter... The next couple will be longer. This one just had a ton of drama!
So I hope you all had a marvelous Christmas, and I'll see you soon!
