| Pony's POV |

I was still mad at Mel for telling me off like she did, but I was cooling down.

As I approached the door, I managed to hear part of a conversation that I'm guessing had something to do with Cherry.

"You don't like her?" Johnny asked.

"Who does?" Soda yelled from the kitchen.

So much for me not being mad. I ripped open the door and stormed in.

"The hell are you talking about?"

I could see Mel from the kitchen. Her eyes went wide and she whipped her head toward the direction of I'm guessing Johnny and Soda. Johnny slowly peered around the corner until his brown eyes made contact with my blazing green ones. He whipped his back around the corner nearly as soon as he saw me.

"Where the hell have you been?" Darry yelled at me, walking up to me from the direction of his room.

"Well, I was going to see a movie with my best friends, but plans change." My voice became cold and rough when I said the last part.

Mel's eyes hardened. "Excuse me?"

"Mel I think-" Johnny started but she cut him off.

"No! He doesn't get to get away with this! He's completely oblivious to how much she uses him! She just likes the attention Ponyboy! You used to tell me about how you wanted a girl who would love you for you. I get it, she's gorgeous, flawless Cherry Valance, but open your eyes." By now she tears streaming down her face.

"Mel I-" but she was running towards the door, which I stupidly walked away from.

"Just leave me alone." And she was gone.

| Mel's POV |

I ran until I couldn't run anymore. I didn't care where I was or how I could get home but I just needed to get away. He comes in there and decides to blame me? No. This is his fault.

I realized I had collapsed under the tallest tree in the park. The park where Dallas was almost shot nearly 5 months ago. I wished Johnny or Two Bit were here. They always knew how to cheer me up.

I grabbed my blade from my pocket and flicked it open. I examined it. The blade had multiple scratches and indents on it, which had happened in multiple events over the years.

Dally had given me this for Christmas when I ten, the first Christmas I had with the gang.

After thinking about, I realized that the blade was just like me. It has scars and scratches and memories, good and bad.

I wiped my eyes a few times, ridding my eyes of the wetness. I laid my head against the trunk of the tree and closed my eyes, but only for a few moments before I heard heavy breathing.

"Mel?"
