| Pony's POV |
We had been waiting in the waiting room for four hours waiting for the doctor. Darry already told me I didn't have to go to school tomorrow so I didn't have to worry about sleep.
The only thing on my mind was Mel.
"Melody Matthews?" A tall, thin man asked, walking out with a clipboard.
We all bolted up and over to him.
"I'm her brother." Two Bit appointed himself.
"Alright, one at a time, family first." He explained. "My name is Dr. Richard Darkbread. I'll be Melody's doctor for her time here."
Two Bit went into her room and spent about fifteen minutes out there and came out teary eyed.
"She wants Pony next." He said, wiping his eyes.
I breathed in and out and made my way to room 308. When I entered the room, the first thing I noticed was the tubes stuck in Mel. I couldn't help but suck in a breath.
She weakly smiled. "Ponyboy."
I returned the smile and sat next to her. I grabbed her hand and began stroking her hand with my thumb.
"The doctor said my lungs were close to collapsing. I almost died right there." She chocked.
I couldn't cry. I needed to be strong. I kissed her hand and sighed. "You're strong. You'll make it through this."
"Pony, the doctor said I have less than two weeks. This triggered my lungs to become weaker. I won't make your fifteenth birthday."
"I'll spend my whole day with you. No matter where you are." I said, my words becoming stuttered.
Her gray eyes sparkled for a moment, just like they always used to. I wished I could see the beautiful eyes I loved so much. I stroked her cheek.
"I should get going. I'll visit you again soon." I whispered.
"I love you." She said softly.
"I love you too, forever." I smiled weakly.
"Forever."
